Monday night’s main slate is a light one and brings us just six games to choose from. With only 12 teams in action, it’s an important night to find some strategic value plays to help our lineups stand out and to take down some winnings. Let’s dive in and see what we have.

Pitcher
Shane Bieber (CLE): $9,000 @ CWS
As pointed out above, there are just 12 pitchers in action tonight and Bieber is the fourth most expensive. He’s a thousand bucks cheaper than the top guy, though. With a 3.32 ERA, 2-1 record, and a 1.09 WHIP and going against the 20th ranked offense (in terms of runs scored) he’s too hard to pass up on at this point.

Yusei Kikuchi (SEA): $7,500 vs. OAK- Kikuchi also has a 2-1 record with a 3.54 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP. Kikuchi is averaging 13.8 FPPG and presents an enticing option with a matchup against a middling offense with a cap friendly price.
Catcher
Alex Avila (ARI): $4,100 vs. PIT
Avila has started just seven games this season but has produced double-digit fantasy points in three of those games and is averaging 9.3 FPPG on the season. He has an OPS of 1.147 and will be facing Nick Kingham and his 5.94 ERA.
Other Notables
Yasmani Grandal (MIL): $4,000 @ PHI- Grandal isn’t exactly consistent but his six home runs, 15 RBI, & 7.4 FPPG offer some boom or bust potential at an affordable price.
First Base
Carlos Santana (CLE): $4,300 @ CWS
Santana is slashing just .280/.383/.432 on the season but does have five home runs and 20 RBI. He has been more consistent as of late with a hit in four of his last five games. He hasn’t had a multi-hit game since the fourth of May, but going against Reynaldo Lopez who carries a 6.38 ERA and 1.748 WHIP brings a good opportunity for Santana to build on his recent successes.
Other Notables
C.J. Cron (MIN): $4,300 vs. LAA- Cron has been hot as of late with a hit in four out of his last five games, a stretch that’s seen him go 10-for-22. In this five-game stretch, he has recorded double-digit points three times. While his average is heating up, his nine home runs and 23 RBI on the season have added season-long power potential.
Second Base
Ronny Rodriguez (DET): $4,200 vs. HOU
Rodriguez is certainly happy to be done with the four-game set in Minneapolis, a series where he went just 2-for-14. Despite this past weekend, Rodriguez has a .986 OPS with five home runs and 14 RBI and is averaging 9.8 FPPG this season. Coming off of a bad four-day stretch creates a good time to buy low and look for a bounce-back game.

Jonathan Schoop (MIN): $4,100 vs. LAA- Schoop has hit in five out of his last seven games and is batting .296 during that stretch. He’s at an affordable price and is averaging 7.5 FPPG this season and 8.1 FPPG over the last seven.
Third Base
David Fletcher (LAA): $4,000 @ MIN
Fletcher is slashing .296/.343/.440 on the season. Over the last seven games, he is batting .323 with two home runs and four RBI. He has been consistent as of late as well with hits in six out of the seven games. Fletcher will face a tough matchup against Jose Berrios but is worth consideration given his recent success and cost on a light Monday night slate.

Yuli Gurriel (HOU): $3,800 @ DET- Gurriel is averaging 7.1 FPPG and is on a nine-game hit streak. Gurriel’s downfall to this point is batting .188 with runners in scoring position which has limited him to 14 RBI. Still, on the fifth highest scoring offense and an eight-game hit streak he is more than worth a play at this price.
Shortstop
Jean Segura (PHI): $4,300 vs. MIL
Segura is batting .306 on the season and has hit safely in the last three games. In fact, he has gone hitless in only four games this season. Segura is averaging 8.6 FPPG and is a really safe floor play guy as opposed to a boom potential player due to his good average and lack of power (two home runs and 15 RBI).

Carlos Correa (HOU): $4,500 @ DET- Correa is a bit more expensive but is in the middle of the pack in terms of price tonight given the small number of teams in play. Correa is batting .298 with nine home runs, 24 RBI, and 9.0 FPPG.
Outfield
Adam Jones (ARI): $4,700 vs. PIT
Jones has hit in three of his last four games and has gone 4-for-15 in that time. Jones is batting .272 on the season with eight home runs and 23 RBI. Jones will face off against Nick Kingham who has been far from dominant this season.
Bryce Harper (PHI): $4,400 vs. MIL
Harper’s start is a far cry from what the people of Philadelphia had been hoping for. With that said, Harper is still on pace for 29 home runs and 103 RBI so he still has plenty of fantasy value despite a .229 batting average. On a smaller slate night, Harper is worth a look at this price.
Gregory Polanco (PIT): $4,400 @ ARI
Polanco is batting .317 and is on a five-game hitting streak. Polanco is not hitting the ball out of the park (two home runs) and is not driving in runs (nine RBI) with any regularity, but his average, 9.1 FPPG, and cap friendly price make him a fairly safe play tonight.
