Shane Bieber (CLE): $9,500 @ CWS
Bieber has been excellent through his first seven starts, posting a 3.32 ERA and 3.69 K/BB ratio in 43.1 innings. His walk rate has risen from 4.7% to 7.3% this season, but that’s something we welcome with Bieber, and has been a big contributor to his success. His zone rate dropped by 9% and his contact rate dropped by 4%. Rather than hammering the zone and giving in when behind in the count, Bieber isn’t backing down. That’s allowed him to take the next step towards ace-level. The White Sox have a respectable 103 wRC+ as a team against righties this season, but their 25.6% strikeout rate is the seventh-highest in the league, giving Bieber plenty of that juicy K upside in this matchup. The other top pitchers face tough matchups on this slate, making Bieber the go-to high-end guy tonight.
