Fantasy Baseball Pitching Streamers: Week 13

Fantasy Baseball Pitching Streamers: Week 13

Here we go with the 13th week of finding ignored pitchers turned serviceable for a day. Please take note that pitching rotations are always fluid, so most of these streaming options are projected starters who aren’t set in stone. That especially holds true for games played later in the week, so be sure to double-check the official announcements as we move closer to each date. Got it? Good!

Take note that we are looking for pitchers who are owned in less than 30 percent of Yahoo leagues. Occasionally a recommendation will exceed that threshold if they are in a particularly favorable streaming situation.

Now let’s dive into the good stuff!

Monday, June 24

Adam Plutko (CLE) vs. Kansas City (5%)
Plutko doesn’t seem like a great fantasy option on the surface, as he holds a 4.55 ERA without working particularly deep into games. However, his ERA is inflated by one poor outing against Tampa Bay, where he allowed 12 hits and seven earned runs through 5.1 innings. Other than that, he has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four other starts. He has a good chance at securing a win and quality start against a Kansas City offense that ranks 24th in wRC+ this season.

Other Options: Brad Keller (KC) at CLE (20%), CC Sabathia (NYY) vs. TOR (16%)

Tuesday, June 25

Trevor Richards (MIA) vs. Washington (28%)
A frequent member of this column, Richards is an interesting streaming candidate yet again. His ownership has fallen below my arbitrary 30% threshold after a rough performance against Pittsburgh (5 ER, 5 IP, K) on June 14. However, he bounced back reasonably well at St. Louis, where he allowed just one earned run with eight strikeouts over 5.2 innings. The matchup here against Washington is fairly neutral, but the Miami hurler should find comfort in his pitcher-friendly home atmosphere.

Other Options: Chris Bassitt (OAK) at STL (28%), Ross Stripling (LAD) at ARI (46%)

Wednesday, June 26

Zac Gallen (MIA) vs. Washington (47%)
If you are looking for a viable short-term and long-term pitcher for your fantasy squad, then run (don’t walk) to the free-agent pool in search of Gallen. The rookie was terrific in Triple-A this season, and that spilled into an MLB debut in which he allowed one earned run with six strikeouts across five innings at St. Louis on Thursday. I don’t mean to keep picking on Washington, but there’s some talent on this Miami pitching staff that is worthy of consideration in season-long leagues. Gallen could have some staying power moving forward as well.

Other Options: Framber Valdez (HOU) vs. PIT (41%), Tanner Roark (CIN) at LAA (20%)

Thursday, June 27

Griffin Canning (LAA) vs. Oakland (45%)
Canning’s ownership rate is somewhat high at the moment, but some people could sell shares after Friday’s bland performance (5.1 IP, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K) against the Cardinals. Although the rookie has allowed 13 earned runs over his past four starts (23.1 innings), he has racked up plenty of strikeouts (23) along the way. Take that into consideration when deciding whether to stream him in this spot, as it will obviously depend on your needs.

Other Options: Mike Leake (SEA) at MIL (36%), Sandy Alcantara (MIA) vs. WAS (15%)

Friday, June 28

Merrill Kelly (ARI) at San Francisco (35%)
Kelly was featured in last week’s column, and the results weren’t great. He allowed five earned runs across six innings against Colorado while picking up five strikeouts. However, let’s not forget about the good times of two total earned runs and 18 strikeouts through 22.1 innings in his three previous starts. Kelly has an excellent opportunity to get back to those ways against a bottom-five San Francisco offense this week.

Other Options: Anibal Sanchez (WAS) at DET (31%), Danny Duffy (KC) at TOR (8%)

Saturday, June 29

Brett Anderson (OAK) at LA Angels (13%)
Anderson is probably the least exciting option in this article, but he has been getting the job done with six earned runs allowed and 11 strikeouts over 19.2 innings. As you can see, the punchout rate isn’t great, but Anderson checks in with an acceptable 3.68 ERA while holding realistic promise for snagging a quality start and subsequent victory. He’s not the best streamer of this article, but he’s worth keeping an eye on if you are desperate heading into the weekend.

Other Options: Erick Fedde (WAS) at DET (4%), Zach Plesac (CLE) at BAL (44%)

Sunday, June 30

Adam Plutko (CLE) at Baltimore (5%)
Let’s round out this column the same way we began, as Plutko is an interesting two-start streamer with a pair of favorable draws. Baltimore’s offense is even worse than Kansas City’s, ranking 26th in wRC+ this year. As you can see with his 5% ownership rate, Plutko is widely available despite having these plum matchups served on a platter this week. He’s an excellent two-start streamer alongside Richards and Bassitt in that regard.

Other Options: Trevor Richards (MIA) vs. PHI (28%), Chris Bassitt (OAK) vs. LAA (28%)
