There are games spread all throughout the day like most Saturdays, but we’re going to focus on the day slate. There are so many stud pitchers in the nightcap. That makes for slim pickings in terms of hitters, so let’s examine this much more friendly day slate with one bonus option for the evening. These are mostly east coast games, so be sure to check weather forecasts before submitting lineups.

Pitcher
Max Scherzer (WSH): $12,200 vs. KC
Is there any question that Scherzer is the best option on the board? This dude has been the best pitcher in the league for five years now, and he’s in the midst of yet another stellar season. Scherzer is pitching to a 2.43 ERA and 1.00 WHIP while posting a K rate approaching 35 percent. Those are pretty much on par with his numbers since joining the Nationals. Facing Kansas City only adds to his intrigue, with the Royals sitting 23rd in runs scored, 26th in both OPS and wOBA, 27th in xSLG, and 24th in xwOBA. Vegas couldn’t agree more, making Washington a -425 favorite in this game.
Catcher
Danny Jansen (TOR): $3,500 vs. BAL
This young prospect is really turning things around, and it’s hard to argue with this price tag. Over his last seven games, Jansen is hitting .405 while providing six homers, eight runs scored, and 10 RBIs. That’s incredible production from any catcher, let alone one in this price range. We especially have to love him against Andrew Cashner, who’s pitching to a 4.45 ERA and 1.44 WHIP dating back to 2015. Getting someone this cheap opens up the possibility for anything, and flexibility is one of the most important factors of DFS.
