Here we go with the 18th week of finding ignored pitchers turned serviceable for a day. Please take note that pitching rotations are always fluid (especially with trades looming), so most of these streaming options are projected starters who aren’t set in stone. That especially holds true for games played later in the week, so be sure to double-check the official announcements as we move closer to each date. Got it? Good!
Take note that we are looking for pitchers who are owned in less than 30 percent of Yahoo leagues. Occasionally a recommendation will exceed that threshold if they are in a particularly favorable streaming situation.
Now let’s dive into the good stuff!

Monday, July 29
Brad Keller (KC) vs. Toronto (27%)
Keller has looked pretty good over the last month, allowing just four earned runs and tallying 19 strikeouts through 27 innings over his past four starts. That includes a gem at Atlanta (7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 3 K) last Wednesday. His brilliance could continue against a Toronto offense that ranks 27th in wRC+ with the eighth-highest strikeout rate at 24.3%, as of Saturday.
Other Options: Merrill Kelly (ARI) at MIA (34%)
Tuesday, July 30
Reynaldo Lopez (CWS) vs. NY Mets (26%)
You could snag Lopez for a pair of starts this week, but the better draw comes on Tuesday against a mediocre Mets offense. There’s a chance Lopez is finally realizing his true potential, as he has given up just four earned runs through 21 innings over his last three starts. His 25 strikeouts over that span should pique your streaming interest as well. Assuming things go well in this start, you could keep Lopez for Sunday’s contest at Philadelphia (and maybe beyond).
Other Options: Tanner Roark (CIN) vs. PIT (25%), Zac Gallen (MIA) vs. MIN (30%)
Wednesday, July 31
Jose Urquidy (HOU) vs. Cleveland (22%)
Urquidy has started four games for the Astros this season, showing some fantasy potential outside of a blow-up performance (2.1 IP, 8 H, 5 ER) against the Angels. His last two starts went much smoother, allowing two earned runs with 15 strikeouts in 13 innings. His opponent for this one, Cleveland, has been much better offensively over the past few months, but Urquidy is a sneaky-good fantasy asset who should post another quality start.
Other Options: Jakob Junis (KC) vs. TOR (18%), Vince Velasquez (PHI) vs. SF (8%)
Thursday, August 1
Anthony DeSclafani (CIN) at Atlanta (28%)
I wrote this article before DeSclafani’s start on Saturday. Depending on how he handles the Rockies in that spot, his ownership rate could move one way or another. The Cincinnati righty has been up and down all season, so take note of the inherent volatility. However, he has been a rewarding fantasy streamer in seven of his last eight starts, so he may be worth a dice roll if you’re desperate on Thursday.
Other Options: Chase Anderson (MIL) at OAK (30%), Michael Pineda (MIN) at MIA (48%)
Friday, August 2
Martin Perez (MIN) vs. Kansas City (36%)
Perez had a fantastic May, and it looked like he was building toward an excellent comeback season. Things dropped off once the calendar turned to June, and Perez has flailed ever since. He hasn’t disappointed, per se, but the Minnesota lefty hasn’t exactly produced for fantasy shareholders either. The good news comes from a legitimate chance to record a victory in this home meeting against Kansas City, who ranks 24th in wRC+ this year.
Other Options: Alex Wood (CIN) at ATL (40%), Steven Matz (NYM) at PIT (29%)
Saturday, August 3
Jason Vargas (NYM) at Pittsburgh (15%)
Vargas used to be a pitcher to stream hitters against, but he has flipped the script this season. The Mets’ lefty has been somewhat impressive recently, especially in his most recent start (6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 8 K) against the Padres last Tuesday. He could keep that momentum going against a below-average Pittsburgh offense in pitcher-friendly PNC Park.
Other Options: CC Sabathia (NYY) vs. BOS (25%), Homer Bailey (OAK) vs. STL (12%)
Sunday, August 4
Merrill Kelly (ARI) vs. Washington (34%)
Kelly was listed in the “other options” section for Monday. He’s probably a better streamer at Miami that night, but I’m not opposed to holding him for this tilt against Washington. You’ll want to assess your risk tolerance at this stage of the week because Kelly is no sure bet to produce. He enters the week fresh off a letdown showing against Baltimore (2.1 IP, 8 H, 7 ER), but he only allowed two total earned runs in his previous two starts (12 IP, 11 K) against the Brewers and Cardinals combined.
Other Options: Tanner Roark (CIN) at ATL (25%), Reynaldo Lopez (CWS) at PHI (26%)
