FantasyDraft MLB Lineup Advice: Friday (7/26)

FantasyDraft, the only site offering 100% rake-free contests, allows for a lot more freedom when it comes to MLB lineup construction. Two pitchers, three infielders, three outfielders, and two utility players makes building your lineups a lot of fun.

Friday night’s MLB DFS slate on FantasyDraft features 14 games of action around the league. You can get all the hitters you want on this slate if you’re willing to shop in the discount bin for your second starting pitcher, which is what I recommend.

As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. For reference throughout the season, be sure to bookmark our overview of MLB Park Factors and how to Use Weather to Your Advantage in MLB DFS.

Pitchers

Zack Greinke (ARI): $20,300 @ MIA
Greinke has a lot of things going for him on Friday night. He gets a positive park adjustment pitching in Miami and is a sizable road favorite according to Vegas. Greinke will also get to face the anemic Marlins offense that ranks dead last against right-handed pitching in wOBA (.277) and 29th in wRC+ (73) over the last 30 days. They have also struck out at a 27.5% clip during that stretch against righties, which is tied for the second-highest rate. Lock in Greinke as your ace to anchor your lineup.

Daniel Mengden (OAK): $11,900 vs. TEX
Only the Rangers have a higher strikeout rate versus righties over the last month (31.7%) than the Marlins. Their batters get a negative park adjustment playing in Oakland, and they have also posted a woeful 71 wRC+ (30th) and .289 wOBA (27th) against righties over the last 30 days. Meanwhile, Mengden has been solid in four of his last six starts and will face a Texas lineup minus Joey Gallo. He has also succeeded against the current collection of Rangers hitters, allowing a mere .221 wOBA with a 25.5% strikeout rate in 55 plate appearances.

Hitters

Aaron Hicks (OF – NYY): $9,400 @ BOS
On Thursday, the Red Sox exploded for 19 runs against the Yankees. Friday night feels like a payback game for the Yankees sluggers with Andrew Cashner taking the mound. The Yankees have hit Cashner well over his career, including six hits in 18 at-bats for Hicks. He has settled into the middle of New York’s lineup and has a .384 wOBA and .304 ISO on the road versus right-handed pitching this season.

Francisco Lindor (IF – CLE): $8,900 @ KC
Lindor is on a tear at the plate, riding a seven-game hitting streak that has included four multi-hit efforts. He’ll face a familiar foe on Friday night with righty Jakob Junis toeing the rubber for the Royals. Lindor is 12-for-25 with three doubles and three homers off Junis during his career. He has posted a .388 wOBA and .239 ISO versus righties on the road this year.

Josh Bell (IF – PIT): $8,200 @ NYM
Bell doesn’t seem like he is getting enough respect from the FantasyDraft pricing algorithm on Friday night. He’ll face a solid pitcher with righty Zack Wheeler on the mound for the Mets. Yet Wheeler is making his first start off the IL with a shoulder injury and is also a trade candidate, so his pitch count could be limited. That will leave some extra innings for a Mets bullpen that has allowed a league-high 5.90 xFIP to lefties this season to go along with a 1.6 HR/9 rate. Bell has a .406 wOBA and .332 ISO versus righties this season.

Manny Machado (IF – SD): $8,000 vs. SF
I’ll round out my core group of hitters with an underpriced Machado. He continues to be hot at the plate, recording five hits over his last two games. While he hits lefties better than righties, he has handled Giants righty Jeff Samardzija well over his career, going 5-for-13 with a pair of long balls.
