Bobby Sylvester’s Wide Receivers Rankings and Notes (Fantasy Football)

Wide Receivers are the least volatile fantasy football position, so analysts can typically rank them much more accurately than other positions. What it primarily comes down to are the targets they will receive. Granted, there will be outliers when guys like Tyler Lockett score 10 touchdowns on 70 targets and there are, of course, unexpected breakouts like Tyler Boyd. Because of the reliability of the top 32 receivers this year, I’m encouraging owners to get at least 3 of them which means you’ll need to designate 3, or preferably 4 of your first 7 picks to the position. After that, there is a major dropoff with question marks galore and not much in the way of upside. I don’t stray too far from ADP on any one receiver so if Kenny Golladay drops far enough, I certainly wouldn’t mind having his target share on my team. With that said, I do have some favorite targets and sleepers.

Mike Evans was the #1 fantasy wideout in 2016 and still has that sort of upside. He was again WR6 last year but is being drafted nearly a full round later so I’ve been getting plenty of shares. Likewise, Brandin Cooks has been a top 12 wideout in four consecutive seasons but is being selected well beyond that even though he is still just 25 years old. After those two, my favorites are all WR3s with upside for much more. They range from Corey Davis and Mike Williams to Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk. Once we get beyond that group, I’m happy to land Geronimo Allison in the 10th round and use Golden Tate and/or Keke Coutee as my WR4 since they will be consistent from the moment they return to the field. My late-round targets are David Moore and Devante Parker.
