One of four starting pitchers with a five-figure salary tonight gets the nod below. He’s joined by a hurler who’s a tick cheaper, and another priced under $7,000 rounds out the pitching picks. A pairing of elite table-setting teammates and a three-man stack make up the hitting selections.

Jose Berrios (MIN): $10,000 vs. Tigers
Right-handed pitchers facing the Tigers tend to get attention from the daily community. When that pitcher’s a good one like Berrios, they’re often chalky. That should be the case for Berrios tonight, but for good reason. He and the Twins are -205 favorites at home, per Pinnacle. The Tigers rank dead last in wRC+ (73) and K rate (26.8%) against righties, according to FanGraphs. Berrios’ 3.37 ERA this year is considerably better than his 4.31 SIERA, but he also significantly (albeit to a lesser extent) bested his 4.29 SIERA with a 3.89 ERA in 2017. Does that mean he is destined to beat his SIERA annually? No. It does, however, support the notion he might not be as “lucky” as the nearly one-run gap suggests. Regardless, the Tigers make for an easy matchup he should mow down.
