FanDuel MLB Lineup Advice: Wednesday (8/21) PREMIUM
While there are some games spread throughout the day, I’m going to key in on the night slate. It’s not a small slate, though, as we have 11 games in this tasty schedule. There are a lot of intriguing pitchers, but I’m going with the guy who has the best matchup in baseball.
Patrick Corbin (WAS): $10.300 at PIT
Corbin isn’t even close to the highest-priced pitcher on this slate, but he should be. That’s because he faces a Pittsburgh team that can’t hit lefties. The Pirates rank dead last in both OBP and OPS against southpaws. That should benefit Corbin, who’s currently pitching to a 3.34 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 29 percent K rate. In his last start against Pittsburgh, he allowed just one run across seven innings while striking out 11 batters. He also has a 2.37 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 11.3 K/9 over his last 11 starts.
Mike Montgomery (KC): $7,500 at BAL
Montgomery was downright terrible in his first few starts with the Royals, but recent results are really promising. Over his last three turns, he’s pitching to a 1.00 ERA and 1.06 WHIP while striking out 22 batters across 18 innings. Once a top prospect, the lefty posted a 3.35 ERA and 1.25 WHIP from 2016-18. That makes this price a nice bargain, but the matchup makes him impossible to fade. He faces an Orioles team which ranks 26th in runs scored, 22nd in K rate, and 25th in OBP, OPS, and wOBA.
