Lineup building is getting more difficult as the weeks wind down on the MLB regular season. Pitchers start to get early hooks and hitters are swapped in and out of the lineup more frequently after rosters expand in September. So, it is important to read up on the news leading up to first pitch to see if there are any indications of pitch count limitations or which low-priced hitter is suddenly hitting leadoff. So, I’ll dig into Tuesday’s 14-game main slate on DraftKings with my top recommendations but be ready to pivot as needed when lineups are released or news breaks.
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. For reference throughout the season, be sure to bookmark our overview of MLB Park Factors and how to Use Weather to Your Advantage in MLB DFS.

Justin Verlander (HOU): $12,800 vs. TEX
Verlander is one of those pitchers who I was referring to in the intro who could have his pitch count scaled back in his last couple starts. That said, he has still topped 100 pitches in each of his last three outings. Even though the Astros have their division pretty well locked up they are still battling for the best record in baseball and home-field advantage. Verlander is a big home favorite on Tuesday against the Rangers who he has dominated over his career allowing a .264 wOBA with a 30.7% strikeout rate in 368 career plate appearances by Rangers hitters. He is clearly the top option on the slate assuming his normal pitch count.
