It may be Labor Day, but we’ve got work to do on FanDuel this morning before kissing Summer goodbye. FanDuel has an eight-game featured slate today, which begins at 1:05 PM CST. On a day like this, I prefer to play the featured slate rather than the all-day slate, as staggering start times can cause us to miss out on potential value plays. Scoring is expected to be relatively light, with only one game (PHI @ CIN) boasting a double-digit expected total.

Starting Pitcher
Ryan Yarbrough (TB): $7,600 vs. BAL
Yarbrough has been on a tear lately, posting a 1.90 ERA, 2.49 FIP, and monster 17.0 K/BB ratio. His price tag seems a little low based on those numbers especially since he’s facing one of the weakest lineups in baseball. Baltimore has a 93 wRC+ against left-handed pitching, along with a 25.3% strikeout rate, the fourth-highest in the league.
Longevity is probably the biggest knock on Yarbrough, as he’s averaged a hair under six innings per outing since the All-Star break, but as some of his recent starts have shown, if he is on, Kevin Cash will let him go deep into games. He’s gone six innings or more in three of his last four starts, including an 8.2-inning gem in Seattle. Yarbrough has big upside in this matchup and is my favorite pitcher on the slate.
