Free NFL Week 2 Picks from TeamRankings (Pick’em, Survivor, Betting)
We kick things off with John Paulsen of 4for4, who has some encouraging fantasy-relevant statistical information for Matt Breida owners entering San Francisco’s Week 2 encounter with the host Cincinnati Bengals:
In the nine games last year where Matt Breida saw at least 10 carries, he averaged 15.7 touches for 94 yards and 0.44 touchdowns.

It would be difficult to sit Brieda if you like those trends to continue this weekend.
Scott Barrett of Pro Football Focus suggests that the Indianapolis backfield could be in for a bigger day than anticipated against Atlanta:
The Atlanta Falcons have surrendered the most receptions to opposing running backs every year since HC Dan Quinn joined the team.
2015: 118
2016: 109
2017: 107
2018: 118— Scott Barrett (@ScottBarrettDFB) September 12, 2019
The Eagles’ backfield triumvirate of Miles Sanders, Jordan Howard and Darren Sproles caught 6-of-8 targets but compiled just 29 receiving yards in Week 1; look for these numbers to grow against the Falcons, though it’s anyone’s guess which of the three will benefit most.
Dalvin Cook owners had to like what they saw from their prized running back in Week 1; and it gets even better when you see what PFF’s Austin Gayle has unearthed:
Small sample size, but Dalvin Cook got off to a strong start in 2019.
– Cook had 50% of Minnesota's opportunities (targets + rushes).
– Cook was targeted or handed the ball on 69.7% of his offensive snaps.
— Austin Gayle (@PFF_AustinGayle) September 11, 2019
Cook has clearly become the centerpiece of the Minnesota offense, and is a locked-in RB1 moving forward – including this week against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
While the Derrius Guice injury had fantasy owners scrambling to pick up Adrian Peterson, Jared Smola of Draft Sharks suggests that another Washington running back might be the better option – at least, for this week:
#Redskins RB Chris Thompson is coming off a 10-target outing and now gets a #Cowboys defense that allowed the 5th most RB catches last year.#PPRspecial
— Jared Smola (@SmolaDS) September 11, 2019
Thompson could be an interesting FLEX play in a home encounter against the favored Cowboys.
Heath Cummings of CBS Sports is also doing good fantasy work this week,
A few target share numbers from last week that scare me
Crowder 41%
Amendola 28%
OJ Howard 14%
C Davis 12.5%
Samuel 10.5%
Fuller, Lockett 10%
J Cook 6.9%
Mack, Ingram, Allison 0%— Heath Cummings (@heathcummingssr) September 11, 2019
Look for some of these target share stats to wind up wildly different – for better or worse – in Week 2.
Here are a handful of other insightful and/or entertaining Twitter missives from the best in the industry:
I currently have more rushing yards than Cam Newton this season and I haven’t left my house since the season started.

Biggest dolt take you'll read today:
Sell Sammy Watkins high.
Literally, imagine doing that.
— Davis Mattek (@DavisMattek) September 11, 2019
Christian Kirk played over 85% of his snaps from the slot last week, yet was 11th in the entire NFL in air yards. If he continues to play this role and avoid top CBs, he's a screaming buy. @FanTeamAdvice

Me: You watched the Dolphins with me this week.
Wife: Ugh, yeah.
Me: They play the Patriots this week, with AB. What do you think the line is?
Wife: 49?
Me: Not the total. The line.
Wife: (silence)
Me: It’s 17.5, which is pretty big.
Wife: I’m surprised it’s not 49.

I can't wait to buy Sony Michel low next week after he has another "bad week with limited touches" in New England's second straight blowout.
