FantasyDraft NFL Lineup Advice: Week 2

FantasyDraft NFL Lineup Advice: Week 2

FantasyDraft, the only site offering 100% rake-free contests, allows for a lot more freedom when it comes to NFL lineup construction with two flex options that make building your lineups a lot of fun.

We finally have some real regular-season game data and video to help us begin to understand how the 2019 NFL season might play out. Navigating that information could lead to some premature decisions which we should try to avoid as we look at Week 2. Avoiding recency bias isn’t always easy but as you’ll see from my contrarian GPP stack and even my cash game quarterback this week, we must look at the bigger picture and not lock into Week 1 results as the truth.

Cash Game Core

Ben Roethlisberger (QB – PIT): $10,400 vs. SEA
When I began to delve into the pricing on FantasyDraft this week, I didn’t expect Roethlisberger to be my cash game quarterback. I actually expected him to be part of my contrarian GPP stack (which he still could be), however, with a price tag lower than 18 other starting signal-callers on this slate, he has moved his way into strong cash game consideration. Roethlisberger and the Steelers’ offense were woeful on Sunday night but traditionally play better at home which is where they will be in a potential shootout against the Seahawks. The Seahawks allowed 418 passing yards and a pair of touchdown passes to Andy Dalton in Week 1, which could mean good things for Roethlisberger.

Alvin Kamara (RB – NO): $15,400 @ LAR
After all of the Week 1 value at the running back position, Week 2 is shaping up as a week to spend up at the position. I will be looking to cram in both Saquon Barkley and Alvin Kamara which looks to be quite possible on FantasyDraft. If you can only fit in one, then look to Kamara who is $1,600 cheaper than Barkley and playing in a game with a higher Vegas total against the Rams. The Rams gave up 129 rushing yards and three scores to a similarly skilled back, Christian McCaffrey, last week which resulted in the Rams posting the 28th Defensive-adjusted Value Over Average (DVOA) through one week according to FootballOutsiders.

Keenan Allen (WR – LAC): $14,200 @ DET
Allen could be a somewhat chalky option this week with the Chargers receiving corps a little bit depleted with tight end Hunter Henry out and wide receiver Mike Williams hobbled and questionable to play. Allen should garner a large number of targets as the go-to option for Phillip Rivers this week working out of the slot against the Lions. Note that fitting in two stud running backs is a priority for me in cash games this week, so if that means that we need to save a few bucks at wide receiver with some of my other notable options, I’m okay with it.

Darren Waller (TE – OAK): $6,400 vs. KC
Tight end is a good place to save some salary this week. Waller had an impressive debut for the Raiders on Monday night with seven receptions (on eight targets) for 70 yards against the Broncos. He was clearly one of the top targets for Derek Carr now that Antonio Brown has taken the circus to New England. Waller should see plenty of looks come his way this week as the Raiders’ offense might need to air it out to keep up with the Chiefs in one of the highest Vegas totals of the week.

Other Cash Game Notables:

Contrarian GPP Stack

Russell Wilson (QB – SEA): $12,800 / Tyler Lockett (WR – SEA): $11,300
While I do think that a Steelers’ stack with Roethlisberger could be fairly low-owned this week, I’ll pivot to the other side of the ball with the Seahawks. Lockett was a complete bust in Week 1 as he saw just two targets resulting in one catch (a 44-yard touchdown reception). That lack of volume could bring us a good buying opportunity for a Seahawks’ stack with Wilson feeding Lockett this week in a potential shootout in Pittsburgh. The Steelers got lit up by another efficient veteran quarterback in Week 1 when Tom Brady threw for 344 yards and three scores. Bring a Seahawks’ stack back with JuJu Smith-Schuster who also underwhelmed last week.

Bring it back with JuJu Smith-Schuster (WR – PIT): $13,400
