FantasyDraft NFL Lineup Advice: Week 3

FantasyDraft, the only site offering 100% rake-free contests, allows for a lot more freedom when it comes to NFL lineup construction with two flex options that make building your lineups a lot of fun.

Get ready for an interesting Week 3 of the NFL season with cash game and GPP advice for FantasyDraft. We might be pushed into a unique lineup construction this week which involves saving salary at the wide receiver position while only rostering the two required slots at that position. This will allow the ability to plug in a running back or two in the flex while also considering the rare use of a tight end in the flex in cash games.

On the tournament side, it should be a great week to get contrarian, especially at the aforementioned wide receiver position where there are some potentially high-upside options that are getting overshadowed by teammates when it comes to ownership.

Cash Game Core

Kyler Murray (QB – ARI): $10,500 vs. CAR
While rostering either quarterback in the Ravens/Chiefs tilt is obtainable, I find myself saving some salary at the position by using Murray who is underpriced on FantasyDraft. Despite two less than ideal matchups to start the season against slow-paced teams with solid defenses, Murray still managed to average 328.5 passing yards and two touchdowns per game for 22.49 FantasyDraft points and that is with their red-zone woes and his meager 17 rushing yards. With two games under his belt, he’ll get a more forgiving matchup at home against the Panthers who also typically play at a faster pace. Get ready for Murray’s breakout performance by using him in both cash games and GPP lineups.

Ezekiel Elliott (RB – DAL): $17,100 vs. MIA
Elliott saw his touches rise up to 25 in his second game after getting worked in slowly Week 1 following his holdout. With Elliott back to his workhorse status, he will enjoy a very tasty matchup at home in Week 3 with the lowly Dolphins as over 20-point favorites. The Dolphins rank dead last in rushing yards allowed to running backs this season with 154.5 yards while they have also surrendered three rushing scores to backs through two weeks. He seems like a lock for at least 100 yards and a score but has the potential for so much more, and he should be locked into your cash game lineup.

Devin Smith (WR – DAL): $6,400 vs. MIA
The wide receiver position is a spot to get value on this slate. There is another cheap option at the position that I think everyone will gravitate towards (Nelson Agholor), but instead, my focus is on Cowboys wideout, Devin Smith. Smith posted three catches for 71 yards and a long score last week and should emerge even more in the offense this week with Michael Gallup out. The Cowboys get a juicy matchup for their high-flying offense against the Dolphins who allow points to be scored at will. They gave up 147 yards and two long scores to speedster Marquise Brown in the opener, and while Smith might not be Brown, he still has potential to duplicate those numbers in this matchup, which is more than I can say about Agholor at a higher price.

George Kittle (TE – SF): $10,300 vs. PIT
The decision at tight end comes down to Zach Ertz and George Kittle in cash games, and you could even consider using both. If you’re just rostering one, however, then I’ll give the edge to Kittle who comes in $1,600 cheaper. Kittle has had some touchdown misfortune through the first two weeks which should correct itself this week at home against the Steelers who allowed a pair of tight end scores last week. The Steelers run defense far exceeds their pass defense which should force the 49ers to air it out more than last week which will also benefit the target volume for Kittle. With high target share and touchdown potential, Kittle has a high-floor and plenty of upside for his price.

Other Cash Game Notables:

Contrarian GPP Stack

Jameis Winston (QB – TB): $11,100 / Mike Evans (WR – TB): $13,100 / O.J. Howard (TE – TB): $6,500 vs. NYG
What should we do with Jameis Winston this week, who is in another good spot at home against the Giants? While it is tempting to play him in cash game lineups, hopefully, we all learned from Week 1 that is probably not a wise move. So instead, I’ll get me exposure in GPPs as a stack with a pair of his pass-catchers. The Giants’ pass defense ranks 31st Defense-adjusted Value Over Average (DVOA) according to FootballOutsiders after two weeks while allowing 329 passing yards and 2.5 touchdown passes per game. Chris Godwin has been the top receiver for the Buccaneers so far this season, which means it is a perfect time to pivot to Mike Evans and O.J. Howard at reduced salaries. Daniel Jones at quarterback for the Giants could also help bring some life to the Giants’ offense to force Winston to keep the pedal to the metal.
