Bobby Sylvester’s 2019 Week 7 Rankings (Start or Sit Answers)
We are now just hours away from Patrick Mahomes squaring off against the Broncos defense to get Week 7 rolling. If you’ve got start/sit questions, I’m here to answer them all with my rankings. I’ll post this article every Thursday afternoon to help you make your most challenging decisions each week. If you aren’t reading it until Saturday or Sunday, don’t worry, I’ll continue to update it every few hours for you all. As always, if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out on Twitter @bobbyfantasypro. Before we dive into the rankings, let me tell you about four start/sit options that I am especially opinionated about this week.
LeSean McCoy (KC): RB #24 vs ECR #30 @ DEN
Judging by the expert consensus rankings, most seem to think Damien Williams is still the #1 in Kansas City despite him seeing just 1 carry and 1 target last week. Granted, he has been dealing with an injury for a month that may have impacted his snap count, but then why would he have played any snaps, let alone led the backfield in Week 5? The most probable explanation is that McCoy is now the lead back, and while Denver has been great on defense overall, they have merely been middle of the pack versus the run so you can expect the opportunities to jump this weekend for the Chiefs backfield.
Jakobi Meyers (NE): WR #40 vs ECR #55 @ NYJ
You may be sitting there with any number of injured wide receivers on your roster wondering if you should risk it and start them or pick up someone else. How about this: wait until their game time and if they don’t play, you’ve got Meyers sitting on your bench to use Monday night. He was exceptional in limited snaps last Thursday and should get a bump in snaps and targets with Josh Gordon and Phillip Dorsett expected out. The breakout is coming sooner or later and my money is on this week.
Allen Lazard (GB): WR #41 vs ECR #76 vs OAK
Devante Adams is doubtful this week, Geronimo Allison is questionable and you may have missed it, but even Marquez Valdes-Scantling is questionable. Lazard will be on the field against a pass funnel defense and you’d better believe Aaron Rodgers will get his points regardless in this tasty matchup against the Raiders. Perhaps most importantly, Aaron Rodgers has made it clear that he loves himself some Lazard and we all know how important rapport with Rodgers is.
Dawson Knox (BUF): TE #12 vs ECR #19 vs MIA
If you lost Will Dissly, you are in a rough spot at tight end this weekend because after the big eight, the position is ugly for fantasy purposes. Many in this situation will turn to Jared Cook against Chicago (don’t) or T.J. Hockenson versus Minnesota (double don’t). Jimmy Graham makes for a great option with all of the receivers banged up, but assuming you can’t snag him, Knox is a perfect sleeper this week. Vegas had the Bills implied for 29 points against the Dolphins so I want as much exposure to this offense as I can get.
