Bobby Sylvester’s 2019 Week 8 Rankings (Start or Sit Answers)

Bobby Sylvester’s 2019 Week 8 Rankings (Start or Sit Answers)

We are now just hours away from Dalvin Cook going off against Washington on Thursday Night Football. If you’ve got start/sit questions, I’m here to answer them all with my rankings. I’ll post this article every Thursday afternoon to help you make your most challenging decisions each week. If you aren’t reading it until Saturday or Sunday, don’t worry, I’ll continue to update it every few hours for you all. As always, if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out on Twitter @bobbyfantasypro. Before we dive into the rankings, let me tell you about four start/sit options that I am especially opinionated about this week.

Ryan Tannehill (TEN): QB #10 vs ECR #15 vs TB
If you can believe it, Tannehill and the Titans passing game looked impressive last week. This has more to do, though, with the playmakers he has in Corey Davis, A.J. Brown and either Delanie Walker or Jonnu Smith depending on health, plus all it takes is a competent performance with that trio to post top 10 QB numbers versus a horrid Bucs’ secondary. It might feel gross, but we are here for the fantasy points.

LeSean McCoy (KC): RB #17 vs ECR #27 vs GB
I can’t understand for the life of me why most consider him a fringe start this week. Green Bay gets destroyed by the run and we know Matt Moore won’t be able to pass against their defense, so here we have the clear lead back behind one of the best run-blocking lines in football and in a perfect matchup. McCoy is a lock for 15 touches in this one and I’ll take that from anyone versus Green Bay.

Mike Williams (LAC): WR #29 vs ECR #35 @ CHI
Since Williams came back from injury, he has 29 targets (6th in football) and 395 air yards (2nd in football). The touchdowns haven’t come yet, but this is a red-zone weapon if I’ve ever seen one so you’d better believe with that type of target share, Williams will find his way into the end zone before long. Add in a surprisingly good matchup versus a struggling and banged up Bears defense and we’ve got a strong WR3 must-start.

Irv Smith Jr. (MIN): TE #13 vs ECR #23 vs WAS
No, Kyle Rudolph isn’t injured, this actually has to do with Adam Thielen‘s hammy. When Thielen left the game, Minnesota bumped Bisi Johnson out wide and stuck the small, but quick tight end, Irv Smith, in the slot where he is a mismatch waiting to happen. Seeing that they only have three healthy wide receivers, it seems likely that Smith will play the majority of the game which could lead to a top 12 outing versus Washington.
