Thanks for joining me as we hit the waiver wire looking for players who can help you out for Week 9 and beyond. It’s a strange week for Waiver Wire adds, but this certainly isn’t a bare-bones group of selections we have laid out for you. You’ll want to take every opportunity possible to improve your team, so here we go once again with our early waiver wire pickups!

Wide Receiver
Cole Beasley (BUF): 24% owned
I’m not sure I understand the low ownership here. Beasley is far from a home-run hitter, but his production has been stable in Buffalo’s offense this season. He’s now scored two weeks in a row and compiled a respectable 36/324/2 line on 52 targets in 2019. If you’re looking for sexy, keep reading, but if you want a reliable slot man with some PPR-upside and a good chance for a touchdown, look no further than Beasley.
Next three weeks: WAS, @CLE, @MIA
Chris Conley (JAC): 2% owned
Conley went for 103 yards and a tuddie in Week 8, and he’s now racked up 186 receiving yards over his last two contests. After a fantastic start to the season, Conley cooled off significantly. It appears he’s back, however, and with Dede Westbrook’s status uncertain moving forward, Conley should be added.
Next three weeks: HOU, BYE, @IND
Alex Erickson (CIN): 7% owned
Erickson piled up 97 receiving yards Sunday in the Bengals’ loss to the Rams. He’s now caught 14 passes for 234 yards over the past two weeks, leading all Cincinnati pass-catchers through that time. As long as A.J. Green is out, Erickson has some flex appeal, and he’s widely available right now.
Next three weeks: BYE, BAL, @OAK
Josh Reynolds (LAR): 0% owned
Brandin Cooks exited Week 8’s matchup on the first drive of the contest after sustaining a concussion, and he did not return. Reynolds proceeded to notch a 3-73 receiving line in Cooks’ absence. We’ve seen Reynolds come alive if any of the Rams’ big-three receivers miss time, and he should be picked up with the latest Cooks injury. The Rams are on bye in Week 9, though it’s unclear when Cooks will suit up again.
Next three weeks: BYE, @PIT, CHI
Hunter Renfrow (OAK): 1% owned
It’s easy to call Renfrow’s big Week 8 game a breakout, as he nearly matched his receiving total from the previous seven weeks in one afternoon of football. This may be a flash in the pan, but Tyrell Williams has been banged up, and Renfrow was a college standout and Raiders training camp stud. He’s got the talent, and with increased opportunity, he’s a solid speculative add.
Next three weeks: DET, LAC, CIN
Running Back
Brian Hill (ATL): 0% owned
Hill operated as the top backup to Devonta Freeman in the absence of Ito Smith Sunday, and though he only saw limited action, he made the most of his opportunities. He got three carries, which he turned into 29 yards and the game’s only rushing score. He’ll continue to play behind Freeman as long as Smith is sidelined, and a bigger role would likely be available if Freeman was forced out of game action.
Next three weeks: BYE, @NO, @CAR
Boston Scott (PHI): 0% owned
With Miles Sanders (shoulder) forced out of Week 8’s contest, Scott stepped up and received five carries for six yards and a touchdown. Jordan Howard is clearly the lead back in this offense, but Scott carries some low-end flex appeal if Sanders is forced to miss extended time.
Next three weeks: CHI, BYE, NE
Quarterback
Ryan Tannehill (TEN): 30% owned
Tannehill led the Titans to a victory over the Buccaneers with a fourth-quarter touchdown to A.J. Brown with just under seven minutes to play in the contest. His three scores on the day (with no interceptions), give him over 500 yards passing and a 5/1 TD/INT ratio in two starts. He’s fortunate enough to enjoy some friendly matchups to end the year, and Tannehill is a must-add for quarterback-needy teams or those who play in 2QB or Superflex formats.
Next three weeks: @CAR, KC, BYE
Sam Darnold (NYJ): 23% owned
Darnold was solid against Jacksonville, apparently having exorcised the demons (or ghosts) he dealt with against the Patriots the week prior. The Jets have a beautiful schedule to close out the year, and Darnold makes a worthy fantasy pickup, with injuries and bye weeks aplenty.
Next three weeks: @MIA, NYG, @WAS
Derek Carr (OAK): 26% owned
Carr was impressive for the second week in a row, and he’s been solid all year. With a string of favorable home matchups on tap, Carr makes a serviceable option.
Next three weeks: DET, LAC, CIN
Tight End
Dallas Goedert (PHI): 20% owned
Goedert has now scored two weeks in a row, and he’s become a permanent fixture in Philly’s offense — much to the detriment of Zach Ertz. Ertz seems to be fading while Goedert ascends into weekly flex consideration, and at only 20% ownership, he needs to be added right now. At such a weak position, Goedert offers a level of security.
Next three weeks: CHI, BYE, NE
Jonnu Smith (TEN): 19% owned
Smith went for 64 yards in Week 7 before popping off for 78 yards and a score in Week 8. He looks to be simpatico with newly-anointed starter Ryan Tannehill and — with some exploitable matchups looming — Smith is a sneaky good pickup at a tough position.
Next three weeks: @CAR, KC, BYE
D/ST
New York Jets D/ST: 11% owned
This unit is easily the best D/ST pickup of the week and arguably the top play for Weeks 9-11. Three gorgeous matchups await Gang Green in the form of the Dolphins, Giants, and Redskins. At 11% owned, nearly 9-in-10 readers should find the Jets D/ST available on the waiver wire — ripe for the plucking.
Next three weeks: @MIA, NYG, @WAS
