FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Tuesday (10/8)
We’ve got another nice eight-game slate in the NHL this evening. Several teams are in the midst of long road trips as five of the eight games feature an Eastern Conference vs Western Conference battle.
Evgeny Kuznetsov (WSH): $7,400 vs DAL
Kuznetsov returns from a three-game suspension to take on the Dallas Stars. In Kuznetsov’s last two season openers, he has two goals, three assists, for five points. The Washington power play will be happy to see him, as this unit that is usually one of the most proficient in the league currently sits below 20% through the first three games. Dallas will also likely turn to their backup goalie in Anton Khudobin, although he is a capable option.
Patric Hornqvist (PIT): $6,300 vs WPG
With Evgeni Malkin on the shelf for the foreseeable future, I expect Hornqvist to jump onto the top power-play unit. Granted, Malkin is a massive loss to this power play, but Winnipeg is decimated defensively and are near the bottom of the league in penalty kill percentage through three games. Hornqvist loves to shoot the puck as well, so he should offer a relatively nice floor.
Evander Kane (SJS): $6,600 @ NSH
Kane makes his season debut tonight after being suspended for three games to start the season. At the moment, it’s unclear where he will fit into the lineup against the Predators, but I think he will come out with something to prove regardless. Even when Kane is not contributing on the score sheet, he can always be relied on for several shots on goal.
Oscar Klefbom (EDM): $5,100 @ NYI
Klefbom enters this matchup with three points in two games, with two of them coming on the power play. There was a lot of off-season conversation of Darnell Nurse supplanting him on the top power-play unit, but to this point, he remains in the quarterback position. The good thing about Klefbom is that even when he isn’t on the scoresheet, you can rely on his shots and blocked shots.
David Rittich (CGY): $7,700 vs LA
“Big Save Dave” is 1-1 on the season with a shutout in his pocket. Enter the lowly LA Kings. Calgary should be heavily favored in this home matchup, and wins are paramount when selecting goalies in the FanDuel format. Expect him to see around 30 shots as well.
