The fifth NFL Sunday is in the books, so let’s take a moment to reflect on the good (Aaron Jones), bad (Keenan Allen), and ugly (Mike Evans) from a fantasy football point of view. Take note that fantasy scores are listed in terms of half PPR scoring, and you can see the complete player results over at the nifty FantasyPros sortable results page.

Best of the Best
Will Fuller (WR – HOU): 46.7 FP
This was an insanely high-scoring week, as each of these highlighted studs crossed the 40 fantasy point threshold. For perspective, players in this category usually fall in the range of 30 FP and high 20’s. Fuller emerged as the top fantasy scorer of the day while snagging 14-of-16 targets for 217 yards and three touchdowns. The speedster from Notre Dame has been known as a high-risk, high-reward fantasy commodity throughout his career, and he turned in the highest of possible rewards in a shootout with the Falcons.
Aaron Jones (RB – GB): 45.7 FP
Jones was simply dominant in Green Bay’s dismantling of the Cowboys on Sunday afternoon. The Packers’ top receiver, Davante Adams, was sidelined for this game, and Green Bay clearly wanted to feed Jones in his stead. The Packers’ RB took 19 carries for 107 yards and four touchdowns while adding seven receptions for 75 yards. Next up is a Monday night date at Detroit in Week 6.
Christian McCaffrey (RB – CAR): 44.7 FP
McCaffrey has been mentioned in this section more times than any other player this season. As a result, he’s making an ironclad case for the top overall fantasy option of 2019. “CMC” continued to do his thing on Sunday, taking 19 carries for 176 yards and two touchdowns with a sweet 6-61-1 receiving line to boot. His usage has actually increased with Kyle Allen at quarterback, and he should feast on the Buccaneers in London next week.
Deshaun Watson (QB – HOU): 41.7 FP
As mentioned earlier, the Texans and Falcons got into an old fashioned shootout with Houston ultimately pulling away for a 53-32 victory. Watson had 426 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions on 28-of-33 passing. In other words, he put on an absolute clinic with Will Fuller representing his favorite target. The Falcons have been dismantled by Jacoby Brissett, Marcus Mariota, and now Watson in three consecutive weeks.
Also: Michael Thomas (WR – NO), Amari Cooper (WR – DAL), Matt Ryan (QB – ATL), Adam Thielen (WR – MIN)
Out of Nowhere
D.J. Chark (WR – JAC): 32.4 FP
If you’re like me, then you probably thought Chark’s early-season success was an aberration. However, the 23-year-old receiver made a huge statement with respect to his staying power while racking up an 8-164-2 line against Carolina. Chark is now WR9 on the year with a 14.9 FPPG average.
Teddy Bridgewater (QB – NO): 28.3 FP
It’s nice to see Bridgewater have a shining moment after his NFL career was called into question following a freak injury several years ago. The New Orleans’ backup took a page out of QB Drew Brees’ book, tossing for 314 yards and four scores in a victory over Tampa Bay. His favorite receiver was Michael Thomas, who came up huge with a nice 11-182-2 line for 30.2 FP.
Josh Jacobs (RB – OAK): 27.8 FP
Most of us felt that Jacobs would have a breakout game sometime soon, we just didn’t expect it to come against the Bears. Oakland has been talking about how they want to give their rookie more touches, and Jacobs responded with 123 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. The Raiders ended up finishing the job with a 24-21 upset of Chicago.
Byron Pringle (WR – KC): 19.3 FP
QB Patrick Mahomes had one of his worst games of the season, and it didn’t help that WR Tyreek Hill was out and Sammy Watkins eventually joined him on the sidelines. That allowed Pringle to emerge from the bottom of the depth chart to record six catches for 103 yards and a touchdown. However, his fantasy prospects will likely be short-lived with Hill moving closer to a return.
Also: Eagles Defense, Gerald Everett (TE – LAR), Chase Edmonds (RB – ARI), Darren Fells (TE – HOU)
Duds
Mike Evans (WR – TB)
Evans has the dubious honor of being the worst dud we’ve had all season. The Tampa receiver hauled in 12 receptions for 279 yards and four touchdowns over the previous week, but he was held without a catch on Sunday at New Orleans. That’s right: three targets, zero receptions, zero yards, zero fantasy points. Look towards Evans as a bounce-back candidate against the Panthers in London next week.
Philip Rivers (QB – LAC) and Keenan Allen (WR – LAC)
The Chargers didn’t have it on Sunday, and Rivers was inefficient with 211 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions on 32-of-48 passing. As a result, his top receiver, Keenan Allen, suffered while recording only four receptions for 18 yards. Consider this an outlier in what has been an otherwise tremendous season from this duo. Allen still ranks first among receivers with 20.4 FPPG.
Julio Jones (WR – ATL)
Jones finds his name on the dud list for the second straight week. This one was particularly surprising given the 75 point shootout against the Texans. On the bright side, a matchup with the Cardinals next week serves as the perfect “get right” spot for Jones. Then again, this date with the Texans provided a strong fantasy environment as well.
Also: Aaron Rodgers (QB – GB), Emmanuel Sanders (WR – DEN), Marquez Valdes-Scantling (WR – GB), Travis Kelce (TE – KC)
