Bobby Sylvester’s 2019 Week 10 Rankings (Start or Sit Answers)

Bobby Sylvester’s 2019 Week 10 Rankings (Start or Sit Answers)

We are now just hours away from the Chargers and Raiders battling for second place in the AFC West and a potential Wild Card spot. If you’ve got start/sit questions, I’m here to answer them all with my rankings. I’ll post this article every Thursday afternoon to help you make your most challenging decisions each week. If you aren’t reading it until Saturday or Sunday, don’t worry, I’ll continue to update it every few hours for you all. As always, if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out on Twitter @bobbyfantasypro. Before we dive into the rankings, let me tell you about four start/sit options that I am especially opinionated about this week.

Daniel Jones (NYG): QB #13 vs ECR #17 @ NYJ
This Jets defense is so banged up and ineffective that Ryan Fitzpatrick put up 24 fantasy points on them last week with the Dolphins’ offense. Jones may be a disappoint after his huge preseason, but it isn’t like he has been terrible. In matchups against similar opponents, he put up 34 fantasy points versus the Bucs and 28 against the Lions. While 20+ is no lock, he certainly has the floor and upside to consider starting this week, even over Kirk Cousins, Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff.

Jamaal Williams (GB): RB #32 vs ECR #25 vs CAR
If I told you there was a player who had 12 carries, 14 targets and 116 yards over the past three weeks, you wouldn’t even think twice about benching him. In fact, it is substantially worse than the 17 carries, 15 targets and 171 yards that Duke Johnson has in that time, yet no one is contemplating starting him. So why is Williams a fringe RB2 for most? Well, because of the extreme touchdown rate over the past few weeks. If you want to bank on that, do it at your own risk. I’m going with someone who has the touches.

Sammy Watkins (KC): WR #19 vs ECR #36 @ TEN
So far this season, Watkins has played five complete games. In those weeks, his 50 targets rank 2nd in football, his 32 receptions are tied for fourth, his 419 yards are second and his 3 touchdowns tied for second. Granted, three of those weeks came without Tyreek Hill, but then again, two came without Patrick Mahomes, who should now be back. The matchup isn’t ideal, but to suggest Watkins is a low-end WR3 seems crazy to me. I’m expecting his ECR to rise substantially once Mahomes is considered a lock to start.

O.J. Howard (TB): TE #8 vs ECR #16 vs ARI
Yes, Howard has been a monumental disappointment, but as of now, T.J. Hockenson is ranked as the #8 tight end this week in ECR and has just two games with over 32 receiving yards all season. They both happened to come against bottom three tight end defending teams. Meanwhile, Howard has played the league’s most challenging schedule for tight ends, missed two weeks with an injury and still has more games with that many yards. Not only that, but he gets the easiest matchup in all of football this week and the Bucs will likely be without Cameron Brate.
