Fantasy Football Injury Report: Week 11 (2019)

Welcome to the dreaded injury report. Professional football is a violent game, and your fantasy players are going to miss time because of it. Hopefully, you don’t have many names on this list.

JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson (WRs – PIT)
Both Steelers’ starting receivers were concussed on vicious hits Thursday night. With the extra time to recover, it is possible we see one or both in Week 12. If either one of them can’t get cleared, James Washington would start in two-receiver sets. If both of them are out, the Steelers may legitimately sign someone off the street.

Marlon Mack (RB – IND)
The Colts’ starting running back fractured his hand in the win over the Jaguars. Marlon Mack will almost certainly miss some time, as any possibility of Mack recovering for next week is out the window with the Colts playing Thursday night. With Jordan Wilkins already out, Jonathan Williams operated as the primary back following Mack’s exit with Nyheim Hines mixing in on passing downs. They will form a committee in Mack’s absence and both are worth rostering in fantasy.

Jameis Winston (QB – TB)
Winston suffered an ankle injury late in the game. He told reporters that he should be fine. It will be worth monitoring this week, but it appears Winston will be good to go in a prime Week 12 matchup against the Falcons.

Deebo Samuel (WR – SF)
It was an excellent follow-up performance by Deebo Samuel that was almost cut short with a shoulder injury. Samuel fell on his shoulder and sprained his AC joint. He missed a few plays, but eventually returned and played well. Samuel will likely be limited in practice this week, but he should be good to go next week.

Auden Tate (WR – CIN)
After an impressive 20-yard catch, Auden Tate was hit awkwardly and carted off the field as a precaution given the nature of the hit. Fortunately, it appears as though he’s escaped major injury. He very well may play next week.

Phillip Dorsett (WR – NE)
Phillip Dorsett took a shot to the head and left the game. He will be evaluated for a concussion and go through the protocol. N’Keal Harry was in on three-receiver sets following Dorsett’s exit and is worth a speculative add.

Robert Woods (WR – LAR)
The Rams’ WR2 was a surprise inactive Sunday night due to personal reasons. Robert Woods is healthy and should be back with the team for next week’s contest. Despite Sean McVay’s aversion to passing, the Rams will actually have to throw the ball if they want to keep up with the Ravens, so nothing to fear with Woods.

Mitch Trubisky (QB – CHI)
Chase Daniel closed out the game for the Bears at quarterback after Mitch Trubisky was pulled due to a “hip” injury. I didn’t see anything and it sure looked like Trubisky could have finished the game if Matt Nagy wanted him to. This smells like a cover for a benching. Either way, you want nothing to do with anyone on this offense outside of, apparently, Tarik Cohen.
