DraftKings NFL Cash Lineup Advice: Week 15 (2019)

The NFL season rolls on with a 13-game DraftKings main slate on Sunday in Week 15. We have reached the time of year where injuries and team records start to push teams to play players who haven’t seen the field much this season. That can open up some value opportunities, but we have to be very careful we are getting good and up-to-date information all the way up until kickoff. Otherwise, we could be taking on more risk in our cash game lineups then we should. So, while I have listed a few of these cheap “could be” plays, especially at wide receiver, keep an eye the newswire, as it could determine if you take a more balanced approach to lineup construction or jam in a high-priced stud (aka Christian McCaffrey).

Quarterback

Deshaun Watson (HOU): $6,800 @ TEN
It might not have been pretty, but Watson managed to put together another strong fantasy day last week. Hopefully, he can do it a little more conventionally this week in a key divisional matchup against the Titans. In a game with the highest Vegas total on the slate, Watson will face a Titans pass defense that ranks 23rd Defense-adjusted Value Over Average (DVOA) according to FootballOutisiders and has allowed 325 passing yards (31st) and 1.5 touchdown passes (15th) per game over the last five weeks. Without Lamar Jackson on the Sunday slate, Watson is the next best thing to provide a high floor and plenty of upside in his matchup.

Other Notables:

Running Backs

Leonard Fournette (JAX): $7,600 @ OAK
Fournette has only scored three touchdowns this season despite playing nearly every offensive snap. He could be in for some positive regression this week against the Raiders who have given up 1.2 touchdowns (30th) per game on the ground to running backs over the last five weeks. Fournette will be heavily involved in the Jaguars offense regardless of the scoreboard either toting the rock on the ground to grind out the clock or through the air in a comeback effort. Couple those attributes with his touchdown potential and you have the triple threat back that we desire in cash games on DraftKings.

Chris Carson (SEA): $7,500 @ CAR
All of the stars are aligning for Carson this week when the Seahawks play at home against the Panthers. First of all, it is a very favorable matchup as the Panthers rank 32nd DVOA against the run while giving up 145 rushing yards (31st) and 2.0 touchdowns (32nd) per game to running backs over the last five weeks on 5.96 YPC (31st). Second, Carson and the Seahawks are a near touchdown favorite which should put Carson in a positive game script. Finally, the Seahawks will be without Rashaad Penny which locks in Carson’s every-down role and goal-line work. The third running back option to use in the flex comes down to how much risk you want to take at wide receiver.

Other Notables:

Wide Receivers

D.J. Moore (CAR): $6,600 vs. SEA
As I mentioned in my intro, until I feel more confident in one or more of the cheap value options at wide receiver, I’m taking a more balanced approach which allows me to pay up for two high volume receivers. Moore had a “bad” week last week by his recent standards with just six targets (four catches) for 81 yards without a score. There is no reason he shouldn’t rebound back to the double-digit target range this week as the Panthers try to keep up with the Seahawks in a potential shootout. If I decide to pay up for McCaffrey as my third running back, then I’ll pivot off Moore to one of the cheap wide receiver options.

Keenan Allen (LAC): $6,300 vs. MIN
I have a feeling that I am higher on the Chargers passing game then most will be this week. They will be at home against a Vikings secondary that has been torched at times this season when facing good offenses, especially on the road. The Vikings have allowed 13.5 receptions (25th) for 201 yards (30th) and 1.3 touchdowns (24th) to wide receivers over the last five weeks. Allen has scored at least 13 Draftkings points in four straight games and will push into the 20s if he scores. Also, give consideration to teammate Mike Williams who comes with a cheaper price tag and finally found the end zone last week.

Other Notables:

Tight End

O.J. Howard (TB): $3,500 @ DET
He’s alive! Howard has a complete disaster for most of the season but has reemerged over the last two weeks with a combined nine receptions on 11 targets for 134 yards. His potential is still much higher than that now that Mike Evans will be out for the rest of the season. Howard potentially becomes the number two option on the offense behind Chris Godwin and should start to get a couple of those Evans’ red zone targets. We all know Howard has the athletic ability and potential and this week could be his breakout performance this season against a beatable Lions pass defense. The other cheap options are either the red-hot Tyler Higbee or last week’s cheap tight end Ian Thomas if Greg Olsen remains out.

Other Notables:

D/ST

Broncos (DEN): $2,000 @ KC
The Broncos have woken up over the last two games with Drew Lock at quarterback and that has included their defense. They have three sacks in each game and have forced a total of five turnovers. They will have to contend with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs on the road this week which isn’t ideal but in a divisional rivalry game in potential snowy conditions, they could be worth a shot at a cheap salary.

Other Notables:

  • Eagles (PHI): $3,400 @ WAS
  • Cardinals (ARI): $2,200 vs. CLE
