Last week’s article went pretty well with Chris Carson, Raheem Mostert, Chris Godwin, and Tyler Higbee all performing, but we’re taking a different approach here. We actually have Saturday football for the first time this year, and I’m ecstatic to see some professionals lacing up on Saturdays after watching amateurs for the last three months. That’s why we’re going to focus strictly on this three-game Saturday slate, so let’s get into it!

Quarterback of the Week 

Jameis Winston (TB): $6,900 vs. HOU
Trying to pick between Deshaun Watson and Winston is a tough task, but it’s hard to overlook what Winston is doing right now. Over his last nine games, Winston is averaging 43 pass attempts and 356 passing yards per game. Those both lead the NFL in that span, and it’s becoming abundantly clear that the Buccaneers want to abandon their crappy running game completely. It’s not empty usage either, as he’s averaging 26 DK points per game in that span while dropping 77.4 combined fantasy points across his last two outings. All of that makes Winston a beautiful option against a Houston team who allows the second-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. 

Cash Game Running Back 

Raheem Mostert (SF): $6,100 vs. LAR
Picking a cash game running back on this slate is nearly impossible, but Mostert has been the most reliable guy over the last month. That’s truly evident by the fact that he has a touchdown in four-straight games while averaging over 19 DK points per outing in that span. That’s why the Niners have chosen to ride him instead of Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida, with Mostert picking up 43 combined carries over his last three games. That’s all we can ask for from a player who leads the NFL with 5.7 yards per carry. The matchup against the Rams isn’t bad either, with Los Angeles owning a 19th OPRK against opposing running backs this season.  

GPP Running Back 

Todd Gurley (LAR): $6,300 at SF
Many people will be scared off by Gurley because of this matchup, but that makes him a nice GPP pivot with his sky-high upside. While he is the highest-priced running back on this slate, that’s going to make him low-owned and a good tournament option. His recent form is what’s really encouraging, with Gurley scoring at least 18 DraftKings points in four of his last five games. That’s a high total from a $6,300 player, and despite the tough matchup, San Francisco does allow 4.6 yards per carry, ranked 26th in the NFL. It appears the rams are comfortable riding Gurley right now too, with the All-Pro playing on nearly every snap. 

Cash Game Wide Receiver 

DeAndre Hopkins (HOU): $8,500 at TB
Is there any question that Hopkins is the cash game receiver on this slate? Not only do we have limited options from the other five teams, but Hopkins is also simply the best player on this slate. The consistency is what makes him such a good cash game player, scoring at least 15 DK points in 10-straight games, averaging 21.1 DraftKings points per game in that span. That absurd total is big news against Tampa Bay, with the Buccaneers surrendering the most fantasy points in the league to opposing wide receivers this season. Don’t fade Hopkins in a short slate like this! 

GPP Wide Receiver 

Breshad Perriman (TB): $6,000 vs. HOU
Perriman garnered consideration for my cash game section, but his price makes him a nice GPP target. The reason for that is because Chris Godwin and Mike Evans are both expected to miss this game, making Perriman the number-one option for the most pass-heavy offense in football. That should garner him double-digit targets and a snap share approaching 100 percent, which is huge with Winston slinging at will. His production backs it up, dropping 37.6 DK points in Week 15 while averaging over 21 fantasy points per game over his last three fixtures. Not to mention, Houston allows the fifth-most passing yards in the NFL.  

Tight End of the Week 

O.J. Howard (TB): $4,000 vs. HOU
We’ve been waiting for Howard to perform all season long, and he’s finally getting forced into the role we have been praying for. Over his last three games, Howard has 13 receptions for 180 receiving yards on 19 total targets. That’s the usage we’ve been hoping for, and it should only climb from here on out with Evans and Godwin seemingly out for the year. That makes him a great pair with Winston and Perriman to complete a Tampa stack. We also like the fact that Houston has a 21st OPRK against opposing tight ends, according to DraftKings.  

D/ST of the Week 

New England Patriots: $4,000 vs. BUF
This is actually the first time I’ve written up the Patriots defense this season because I like to avoid the expensive chalk, but they’re easily the best option on the board. To put it simply, the Patriots have the best defense in the NFL, and they get one of the best matchups on this slate. Let’s start with that matchup, with the Bills sitting 23rd in total yardage and 22nd in points allowed. That’s scary against a Patriots defense who sits first in both points allowed and yardage surrendered — and in fantasy points among all D/ST’s. Dating back to 2017, Buffalo hasn’t scored more than 16 points in their last five games against New England, being held to just 9.4 points per game.
