DraftKings NFL Value Plays: Week 16 (2019)

DraftKings NFL Value Plays: Week 16 (2019)

Welcome to Week 16 of the NFL season. We have a three-game slate on Saturday, similar to Thanksgiving, with the games spread out throughout the day. For us degenerate DFS players, the more slates, the better! This article will only cover Sunday’s main slate.

Each week, I will provide a recap of the prior week’s picks. The cheaper the player, the higher the value you are hoping to get. The ultimate goal is to get three-to-four times the price of each player. The higher the value, the better the play.

Quarterback: Kyler Murray – 17.4 points (3.11x)

Running Back: Raheem Mostert – 11.9 points (2.29x), Patrick Laird – 7.4 points (1.64x)

Wide Receiver: A.J. Brown – 28.4 points (4.73x), Danny Amendola – 21.2 points (5.17x)

Tight End: Tyler Higbee – 26.1 points (6.69x), Ian Thomas – 4.3 points (1.39x)

The goal of this article is to provide daily fantasy football advice for DraftKings value plays. Implementing a few value plays in your lineups allows for the opportunity to play the top-tier studs. The key with a value play is to find a player with a high floor that also has the opportunity for a breakout game. Non-tight ends under $6K and tight ends under $4.5K will be considered value plays.

Quarterback

Andy Dalton (CIN): $5,200 @ MIA
After returning to the starting lineup, Dalton hasn’t been great. Luckily, he gets his best matchup this week. There shouldn’t be any weather concerns in Miami compared to the always-risky weather in the Northeast this time of the year. The Cincinnati Bengals have really been trying to feature Joe Mixon the past few weeks, which may hurt Dalton a little. On the other side of the ball, Ryan Fitzpatrick should be able to score points and force the Bengals to continue scoring as well. This looks to be a battle of two horrible teams, but it may have some fantasy production.

Running Back

Le’Veon Bell (NYJ): $5,800 vs. PIT
This is purely a revenge game narrative for Bell this week. He has not looked great for the New York Jets and they haven’t involved him as much as the Pittsburgh Steelers used to do. He has only reached 25 touches twice this year and none since Week 9. Now, he gets to face the team that he held out against last year, which should provide some extra motivation for him. The Jets don’t have any playoff hopes alive so they may just force-feed Bell against his former team. He also hasn’t been this cheap all season either.

Melvin Gordon III (LAC): $5,600 vs. OAK
Gordon has looked like the secondary running back to Austin Ekeler all year. He has to think these last two weeks are a good chance for him to showcase himself to the NFL after holding out early in the year for a new contract. The Oakland Raiders have struggled recently, which makes nearly every relevant skill position player on the Los Angeles Chargers’ offense a great option this week. Ekeler is slightly more expensive, and these two have seen similar touches most of the season. A touchdown out of Gordon this week would be a great bonus.

Wide Receiver

Diontae Johnson (PIT): $4,700 @ NYJ
These Jets have been a lot better against the run than they have been versus the pass this season. Even after throwing four interceptions last week, Duck Hodges may be forced to throw more than he would like to this week. Johnson has crossed double-digit DK points each of the past two weeks. He has seemed to connect well with Hodges in his young career. I wouldn’t stray away from Johnson even if JuJu Smith-Schuster is active this week.

Steven Sims Jr. (WAS): $4,000 vs. NYG
Sims has had seven and 11 targets the past two weeks, respectively. In another battle of two bad teams, this matchup should have some decent fantasy production. Although the Washington Redskins love to run the ball, Dwayne Haskins has seemed to target Sims a lot recently. He caught his first career receiving touchdown last week and he should be able to carry that momentum into Week 16.

Tight End

Jacob Hollister (SEA): $4,200 vs. ARI
Hollister has been quiet recently, but there isn’t a better opportunity to get things back on track than facing the Arizona Cardinals. They have been terrible against tight ends all year and I doubt things will change in Week 16. If you need salary relief this week, don’t overthink it.
