The Minnesota Wild are quietly creeping up the standings. Has Colorado played a single game with an entirely healthy roster? The Islanders have cooled off a bit, although they picked up a nice win against Tampa last night. Detroit continues to sink. Will the Maple Leafs or the Lightning finally start moving up into playoff position? We’re nearing the halfway point of the NHL season. Let’s take a look at another busy Tuesday night in DFS.
Mark Scheifele (WPG): $7,700 vs DET
Scheifele is putting together another stellar season in Winnipeg. Through 30 games, he has 29 points. He has five points in his previous three games, with 14 shots over that span. The Jets will welcome the lowly Red Wings into town this evening. The Red Wings are surrendering a league-worst 3.97 goals against per game, a major in factor in why they are winless in their last ten outings. Scheifele is solidified on the top group alongside Kyle Connor and Patrik Laine, as well as on the top power play. Expect him to stay hot tonight.
Tanner Pearson (VAN): $4,900 vs TOR
Pearson is hot of late with seven points in his last five games. He’s currently skating alongside Bo Horvat and Josh Leivo, as well as on the second power-play unit. The Canucks as a team have scored 24 goals over their last five games. The Maple Leafs are surrendering 3.24 goals against per game, good for ninth-worst in the league. I expect this to be a high scoring affair, and I think Pearson is worth a shot at this price.
Alex Tuch (VGK): $4,600 vs CHI
After an injury-plagued start to the season, Tuch has put together a nice campaign. Through 15 games he has nine points. He has seven points in his previous five games. The Golden Knights were defeated by the Rangers on Sunday 5-0. The last time they were beaten by five goals they went back out and scored five of their own the next night. I expect a spirited Vegas team this evening against a Chicago group that has surrendered five goals per game over their last five contests.
Miro Heiskanen (DAL): $5,000 vs NJ
Heiskanen has been one of the league’s biggest break out stars of the year. The former third overall draft pick has 21 points in 31 games. He has four points in his last four games and he shot the puck 15 times over that span. The good part about Heiskanen is he will chip in for fantasy points even when he isn’t on the scoresheet. Tonight the Stars are home to take on a Devils team that has dropped four straight and recently fired their coach.
Laurent Brossoit (WPG): $7,400 vs DET
Quite frankly, Brossoit has been inconsistent this season. This selection is much more about the matchup than it is the player. The Red Wings are historically bad this season. They are winless in their last ten games. Tonight they’re on the road in Winnipeg. The Jets are a massive -240 betting favorite, the biggest choice on the board. In this scoring format, finding goalie wins is paramount. I was surprised to see Brossoit at this price.
