Bobby Sylvester’s 2019 Wild Card Rankings (Start or Sit Answers)

Happy New Year’s, everyone! If you are participating in a fantasy playoff league, don’t worry because I’ve still got my rankings for you all. If you aren’t reading it until Saturday or Sunday, then is yes, the rankings are up to date. In fact, I’ll continue to update it every few hours for you all. As always, if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out on Twitter @bobbyfantasypro. Before we dive into the rankings, let me tell you about three start/sit options that I am especially opinionated about this week.

Russell Wilson (SEA): QB #5 vs ECR #2
There is no one who would deny that Wilson is among the best quarterbacks in football. He may just put the team on his back and win another one-possession game at the end of things in Philly this week. None of that, however, means he has been a great fantasy option. Believe it or not, since their bye week, he has been the #21 fantasy QB behind players like Kyle Allen, Derek Carr, Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield. Again, this isn’t about talent, but rather, scheme and volume. What’s more, is that we already saw Wilson play in Philly this year and he went 13 for 25 with 200 yards, 1 TD and 2 turnovers.

James White (NE): RB #7 vs ECR #5
This may not seem like much of a difference, but as far as I’m concerned, there are three distinct tiers of RBs this week with Kamara and Henry in the top, Sony, Cook, Singletary and Hyde in the second, then a major drop off to where White sits at #7. Yes, he has been reliable this year but his snaps and touches have steadily been dropping. Ever since Elandon Roberts was moved from linebacker to fullback, Sony has taken on many more opportunities. In fact, Rex Burkhead has even surpassed White as the team’s #2. Now, because of White’s work in the passing game, he is still the better fantasy play, but don’t be deceived into thinking he is a lock for anywhere close to 10 touches.

Stefon Diggs (MIN): WR #2 vs ECR #7
So you heard Marshon Lattimore is expected to shadow Diggs and you are a bit worried? Well, it should comfort you to know that we’ve seen this matchup three times and Diggs has absolutely demolished Lattimore, going 10/119/1, 6/137/1 and 7/93/2. It makes sense, of course, because Lattimore is a physical specimen who specializes in slowing down big bodied stud receivers. Diggs, meanwhile, is a craftsman route-runner who can work over a less than dexterous corner. He is not only a lock to start this week, but perhaps even in play for DFS cash games.
