DraftKings NBA Lineup Advice: Friday (1/17)

We have a very compact seven-game slate on the board for tonight. As of right now, there is no real slate-breaking injury news, so let’s talk about some of the top plays that the data has to offer.

Guards

Luka Doncic (PG – DAL): $12,400 vs. Trail Blazers
It is always tough to pay $12,000-plus for one player, as things really have to go well for you to see a 6x return (74 DraftKings points in this case) at that level. However, if you do luck into a big return at a huge salary, it becomes tough for your lineup to fail since you have already successfully allocated such a huge chunk of your salary. Doncic has gone for 70-plus DraftKings points in three of his last seven games, and the Blazers offer a really nice matchup in this spot. They have added eight fantasy points to their opponent’s average totals, and this game checks in with a high over/under total of 229. If you can find some cheap players to pair with Doncic, he is more than viable tonight.

DeMar DeRozan (SG/SF – SAS): $8,100 vs. Hawks
The Spurs’ leading scorer is rarely a popular guy in DFS, given his relative lack of ceiling, but he has once again been one of the game’s most consistent contributors. You would have to go back to mid-December to find a game in which DeRozan did not deliver 30+ DraftKings points, and he has cleared 40 in his last four games. The consistency does come at a cost here, as we have only seen DeRozan go over 50 DraftKings points (which is more of what we want in today’s game) twice in the last month. The Hawks provide a matchup to exploit, however, as they have allowed an average return of 5.9x to wing players this season. DeRozan gives you a nice floor with some paths to a high ceiling, which is a good way to begin a lineup.
