FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Tuesday 1/21

FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Tuesday 1/21

It feels like the season just started, and yet, here we are at the All-Star break. Several teams are already off on their bye week. Others will hit theirs next week. With that said, it’s not the usual ten-game slate we have on a Tuesday, but five games will do. Let’s take a look at some DFS options for this evening.

Center

Jonathan Toews (CHI): $6,900 vs FLA
I don’t usually get into DFS strategy in this article, but when entering a large pool, it’s usually smart to stack your players. Tonight, with the smaller slate of games, I’m looking to stack Jonathan Toews with Dominik Kubalik. Toews is absolutely on fire with 13 points in his previous six games. He’s putting together a nice season with 44 points in 50 games. Tonight, he will continue centering the top line and the top power-play unit. Florida has had major issues keeping pucks out of their net, and tonight they’re playing on a back to back.

Wing

Dominik Kubalik (CHI): $5,200 vs FLA
Kubalik’s recognition around the league is growing. The rookie has 21 goals, 11 assists, for 32 points this season. Remarkably, he has ten goals in his previous eight games. He will continue to skate alongside the red-hot Jonathan Toews, as well as Drake Caggiula. He is a fixture on the second power-play unit. With a highlight reel baseball swing goal this weekend, I expect Kubalik is no longer “under the radar”. The Blackhawks will host the Panthers tonight who are on the second half of a back to back. Despite their large investment in goal this summer, the Panthers still find themselves bottom five in the league in goals-against per game.

Max Pacioretty (VGK): $7,500 @ BOS
I’m going back to the well on Max Pacioretty here. He’s having a really nice bounce-back season with 47 points in 51 games. He has already surpassed last year’s totals. What I love most about using Pacioretty in fantasy is his shots on goal. He’s already shot the puck 218 times this year. Over his last ten games, he has shot the puck an average of 5.4 times per game. He will continue to skate on the top line with Paul Stastny and Mark Stone, as well as the top power-play unit. Tonight, Vegas will visit the Boston Bruins who continue to start the capable backup goalie Jaroslav Halak.

Defense

Keith Yandle (FLA): $5,200 @ CHI
Yandle is coming off a career year in Florida where he had 62 points in 82 games. This season, he has 39 points in 48 games, pacing to mark another career year. He is particularly effective on the power play, where he already has 20 points this season. He is also hot of late, with seven points in his previous six games, including a four-point night on Sunday against the Wild. Yandle will continue logging around twenty minutes a night, and quarterbacking the top power-play unit along with Mike Hoffman, Jonathan Huberdeau, Aleksander Barkov, and Evgenii Dadonov. This unit is top five in total power-play goals scored, and power-play efficiency.

Goalie

Alexandar Georgiev (NYR): $7,500 vs NYI
Georgiev is set to face the Islanders for the third time in two weeks. It is no surprise that the Rangers are going back to him tonight; he has been phenomenal against the Islanders this season. He is 4-1 against the cross-island foe, with an over .950 SV%. Georgiev’s season stats may not look appealing from afar, a 3.05 GAA and a .913 SV%, but I can assure you that he’s been excellent.  New York surrenders the second-most shots against in the league. The Rangers will have a tough decision on their hands if Henrik Lundqvist decides to return for another season. Word on the street is that they’re getting a lot of calls on this rising star netminder.
