FanDuel XFL DFS Lineup Advice: Week 3 (2020)

FanDuel XFL DFS Lineup Advice: Week 3 (2020)

The XFL season rolls on with some interesting Week 3 matchups that include three road favorites and a double-digit home favorite. At this point, it is pretty obvious that quarterback play has been a huge factor in the success of offenses and teams in the XFL. So, make sure that you are not taking chances with your quarterback and getting wide receivers from those same top teams when building FanDuel cash game lineups. That said, I have a hunch there could be a couple of surprises in Week 3, so be willing to pivot and get the running back or wide receiver on a good team who didn’t have a big game last week.

So, with that let’s try to predict the top players to target at each position for Week 1…

Quarterback

Cardale Jones (DC): $20 @ LA
I’m not messing around at quarterback as I would lock in any one of high-priced options. My preferred option among the trio is Cardale Jones who has the most favorable matchup of the group. The Defenders will travel to Los Angeles to face a Wildcats team that has allowed a league-high 289 passing yards and 2.5 touchdown passes per game while giving up 7.4 yards per attempt which is the second-highest mark in the league. Jones has been very steady in each of his first two games averaging 256 passing yards with two touchdown passes per outing. The Wildcats are good enough on offense to help keep the score close to force Jones to keep putting points on the board.

Other Notables:

  • Phillip Walker (HOU): $23 @ TB
  • Jordan Ta’amu (STL): $21 vs. NY

Running Backs

Matt Jones (STL): $16 vs. NY
Make sure you keep an eye on the injury status of Matt Jones leading up to kickoff for the BattleHawks on Sunday. The BattleHawks have been the most run-heavy team (55.2% of their offensive plays) in the XFL and should continue to pound the rock on the ground in their first home game as a double-digit favorite over the Guardians. The Guardians have allowed a league-high 129 rushing yards per game through the first two weeks on 4.45 YPC. If Jones is unable to suit up, then pivot to either one of the backs for the Defenders or consider Jones’ backup Christine Michael. Quinton Flowers could also be an intriguing option playing part-time quarterback for the Vipers but classified at running back on FanDuel.

Other Notables:

  • Jhurell Pressley (DC): $15 @ LA
  • Donnel Pumphrey (DC): $13 @ LA
  • Quinton Flowers (TB): $12 vs. HOU

Wide Receivers

Cam Phillips (HOU): $21 @ TB
The Roughnecks offense has put up the most points in the XFL through two weeks and has been led by Cam Phillips with four touchdown receptions. Phillips has seen nine and 10 targets in his first two games for the pass-first offense in Houston. He has done it via the long ball with a 50-yard TD in the opener and in the red zone with three scores from inside the 10 last week. As the top target on the highest-scoring offense, Phillips has seen his salary rise to the top, but he should continue to be the go-to guy for Phillip Walker this week on the road against the Vipers.

Eli Rogers (DC): $15 @ LA
Rogers has been the most consistent Defenders wideout through the first two weeks with six receptions on six targets for 73 yards in Week 1 and five catches on eight targets for 49 yards in Week 2. He gives you more exposure to the Defenders passing attack this week going up against the Wildcats secondary that has allowed 184 yards and 1.5 touchdowns per game to opposing wide receivers. Rogers also comes with a cheaper price tag than this fellow wideouts, DeAndre Thompkins ($19) and Rashad Ross ($17).

Mekale McKay (NY): $14 @ STL
Despite the lack of results so far, McKay has played by far the most snaps of any Guardians wide receiver through two weeks. He demonstrated a lot of big-play and red-zone ability in the Alliance of American Football (AAF) last year and should get some more looks his way this week with the Guardians as a double-digit road underdog in St. Louis. The BattleHawks just gave up a three-touchdown effort to Cam Phillips last week and McKay’s salary is too low for a number one option on a team that should be passing a lot this weekend.

Other Notables:

  • Rashad Ross (DC): $17 @ LA
  • Alonzo Russell (STL): $15 vs. NY
  • Reece Horn (TB): $15 vs. HOU
  • Sammie Coates (HOU): $14 @ TB
  • Jalen Tolliver (TB): $14 vs. HOU
  • Adonis Jennings (LA): $13 vs. DC
