Bernie Pleskoff’s Fantasy Baseball Outfield Rankings (2020)

Bernie Pleskoff’s Fantasy Baseball Outfield Rankings (2020)

There are certainly a great number of outfielders from which to choose in fantasy baseball.

This is a category that brings more caution than most. More and more teams are using platoons in the outfield to take advantage of pitching matchups. Beware of the number of at-bats your outfielders are likely to receive.

As always, injuries take a toll on fantasy teams. However, there are usually outfielders available on the waiver wire-of course depending upon the number of teams/owners in your league.

Fantasy success requires research and knowledge as well as luck.

Dribblers:

It was very difficult to move Mike Trout out of the No. 1 position. However, Mr. Acuna will make every effort to match his stolen base totals to his home runs. That could be the difference between the two.

This old scout is very concerned about the baseball to be used in 2020. Teams will likely deplete their existing stock of baseballs on hand. Then, how will the next crop play? That’s a huge unknown.

Stanton’s physical condition has to be a concern. Monitor his status to determine how long he will be out. He’s a major force, but only if he can swing a bat.

Alex Verdugo is another player with injury issues. He may not get as many at-bats over the course of the season to make him viable as a coming star. Check on McCutchen as well.

Michael Conforto poses a huge question for this scout. His performances have been conflicting.

If Luis Robert is up with the White Sox in March, he has a chance to do some damage. If they keep him in development longer, fantasy owners will have to be patient and wait. But he’s the real deal.

If Kyle Tucker gets to play, he will show why he should have been playing regularly a while ago. He should be traded if he isn’t going to get regular at-bats.

Rising: Meadows, Rosario, Robert, Adell, Buxton, Reyes

Falling: Cain, Smith, Myers, Pollock, Brantley, Choo
