FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Thursday 3/5

FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Thursday 3/5

We are less than a month from the conclusion of the 2019-2020 NHL regular season. It doesn’t seem like anyone wants to grab the reigns of the Eastern Conference wild card spots. Out West, Edmonton has won three straight and sit two points back of the Pacific leading Golden Knights, with a game in hand. Tonight, every game on this ten-frame slate will have playoff implications. It is the best time of the year. Let’s take a look at some DFS options.

Center

Jean-Gabriel Pageau (NYI): $5,500 @ OTT
Pageau and the Islanders are coming off one of their worst games of the season. The Islanders were defeated 6-2 by the Montreal Canadiens in a game where Pageau was -5. That makes four straight losses since the Islanders acquired Pageau. However, I have faith in JGP, and especially tonight as he makes his return to his prior home in Ottawa. Pageau has already hit a career mark in goals with 24, and he trails his career tally in points by just three marks. I expect he will continue to skate with Anthony Beauvillier and Leo Komarov as well as center the top power-play unit. Tonight is a game the Islanders need to win, and the Senators surrender the second-most goals per game in the NHL.

Wing

Bryan Rust (PIT): $5,300 @ BUF
After recording a hat trick on Tuesday night, I hope I’m not jumping on this train too late. Rust has been remarkable this season with 53 points in 51 games. He has already eclipsed career highs in every statistical category. Rust is playing on a line with Patrick Marleau and Evgeni Malkin, as well as the top power-play unit alongside Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang as well. Tonight the Penguins visit a Sabres team that has dropped four straight contests. I think Rust will stay productive in this spot.

Kevin Fiala (MIN): $6,400 @ SJ
I feel like I’m playing this guy every night. Why stop now? He has a five-game multi-point streak going. He has recorded 5 goals and 6 assists over that span. On the year, Fiala has 51 points in 61 games. He has officially broken out. Tonight the Wild take on a Sharks team that surrenders 2.95 goals per game. I expect Fiala to stay hot.

Defense

Duncan Keith (CHI): $5,300 vs EDM
The days of vintage Duncan Keith might be over. This season, Keith has 23 points in 57 games. The good news is that seven of those points have come in his last seven games. Keith is still a minute eater, logging up to 29 minutes a night. The big recent change in Chicago was the trade that sent defenseman Erik Gustafsson to Calgary. That move propelled Duncan Keith back into his number one role and back into the quarterback position on the power play. It looks to be benefiting him statistically. The Blackhawks have won three straight, but so have the Oilers. This should be a good one.

Goalie

Anton Khudobin (DAL): $8,300 @ NSH
As Ben Bishop remains sidelined, the Stars will have to ride the very capable Anton Khudobin. Khudobin has a stellar 2.22 GAA, good for third-best in the league, as well as a .929 SV%, tied for best in the league. Those peripherals pair well with a 16-7 record. Tonight the Stars will visit a Predators team that seems to be kissing their playoff chances goodbye, losers of three straight. The Stars are slight road favorites at -105. I like Khudobin to pick up a win tonight and look good while doing it.
