FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Tuesday 3/10

FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Tuesday 3/10

With a little more than a dozen games left this season, the playoff races are tight as ever. After an incredible start to the season, the Islanders now find themselves on the outside looking in. After Mika Zibanejad‘s memorable night against Washington, the Rangers turned around and lost to the Devils on Saturday. Carolina and Columbus currently hold the wild card spots. Neither Toronto nor the Panthers seem interested in grasping the final spot in the Atlantic. Out West, I’m selfishly hoping Edmonton and Calgary remain in their current playoff positions, poised to play each other in the first round. Nashville is making a last-ditch effort on the back of Juuse Saros. Winnipeg too. Vancouver is starting to panic as they sit in the final playoff spot, tied in points with the aforementioned trailers. Let’s take a look at another solid Tuesday night slate in the NHL.

Center

Morgan Geekie (CAR): $3,100 @ DET
Geekie was recently called up from the Charlotte Checkers. In his NHL debut, Geekie recorded two goals and an assist. The former 67th overall pick will be back in the lineup tonight as the Hurricanes head to Detroit to take on the last place Red Wings. Geekie is again slated to skate in between Nino Niederreiter and Jordan Martinook. For some reason, DraftKings has listed him as a winger, but he will be playing center. At this bare minimum price, he is worth a shot. The Red Wings are surrendering the most goals against in the league by a considerable margin this season.

Wing

Anthony Mantha (DET): $6,400 vs CAR
In what has been a very forgettable year in Detroit, Mantha has helped provide some positivity about the future. Mantha has 16 goals and 21 assists in 42 games. He missed a good chunk of the season with an injury, but otherwise, he would be skating at a 70+ point pace. On Sunday, Mantha recorded a goal and three assists against the Lightning. Tonight, the Red Wings will host a Hurricanes team that is still relying on AHL goaltending, although they have stepped up admirably thus far. I expect it will be a high scoring affair and I expect Mantha to be involved.

Morgan Geekie (CAR): $2,500 @ DET

Defense

Charlie McAvoy (BOS): $4,900 @ PHI
With Torey Krug out injured, McAvoy will step into an expanded role, which will include running the top power play unit. Even without Krug sidelined, McAvoy has been playing well of late. He has seven points in his previous six games. He is also chipping in with shots on goal and blocked shots every night as well. Tonight the Bruins face a tough task visiting a Flyers team that is 25-5-4 at home and 9-1 in their last 10 games. The Bruins always seem to step up in games like these, and I expect McAvoy to be a big part of that.

Goalie

Juuse Saros (NSH): $7,300 @ MTL
Saros is doing his very best to carry the Nashville Predators into playoff position. He is riding a two-game shutout streak where he has stopped all 70 shots that have come his way. In the last 30 days, Saros has a 2.02 GAA and a .938 SV%. Tonight, Saros and the Predators will visit a Canadiens team that has scored just one goal in their last two games. Although John Hynes and the Nashville staff have not yet named Saros the starter for this evening, it would be shocking for them to go back to Rinne in this spot. Regardless, keep your eyes on that just in case.
