Q3. What is your general strategy tip for Round 6?

If all these players are on the board when I am on the clock, I sprint to the podium for Matt Olson. First base is rather weak this year and Olson has a legitimate chance to lead the majors in home runs. Otherwise, I’m targeting need here with Pham or Laureano if chasing speed, or power with Machado, Abreu, Judge, Suarez, and Rosario. Hader has the biggest bust potential simply because he is a closer and they implode seemingly without any rhyme or reason.
– Jarad Evans (@Jarad_Evans)

Pham, Abreu, and Rosario are common targets of mine, but only because they tend to fall further than Round 6 in most 12-team drafts. I’m not exactly eager to snag any of them at market value. I’m also not going to be the first to take a catcher or closer unless Realmuto and Hader slip past their aggressive ECRs and ADPs. I’ve had a couple of drafts where Greinke jumped out as the perfect complement to a riskier, high-strikeout ace such as Snell, Castillo, or Giolito. While the Yankees sluggers create a highly interesting wrinkle, Suarez may actually be the best injury-based bargain.
– Andrew Gould (@AndrewGould4)

Round 6 is about time to start taking shots. Roll those dice on an Olson/Judge/Stanton, you might just get top 10 production out of them if everything breaks the right way. Pitching is pretty decimated by now, and I would rather wait a few rounds to reach for some upside value pitchers instead of spending this pick on a Greinke type or a reliever. From here forth I am focused on drafting guys that could pay off huge dividends instead of just playing it safe.
– Jon Anderson (@JonPGH)

One quick scan of the sixth round options will tell the entire story. There is power to be found. As well as risk. We take the good with the bad, it seems. You can essentially have your choice of low-floor, high-ceiling options here, but this is the reason why I like to secure two pitchers through five rounds — preferably, at least one of which is top-caliber. We can make a case for-or-against basically every available sixth-round talent, and we have to expect most to fail us. Limit risk early so we can stomach being exposed to it here.
– Mario Mergola (@MarioMergola)

I will never draft a catcher or a closer this early, and I won’t be drafting Stanton at his price. Needless to say, this round has minimal value for me. If I’ve picked up two SPs, I’ll likely be targeting an outfielder or one of the first basemen here. This is also a great round to pick up anyone who has fallen down your draft board in earlier rounds, especially since you’ll start seeing Realmuto and Hader go in this range.
– Carmen Maiorano (@carmsclubhouse)

There is value galore in this round from Machado and Stanton to Greinke, Rosario and Suarez. Pick your poison and if you haven’t already accumulated much risk, your poison should probably be Stanton.
– Bobby Sylvester (@bobbyfantasypro)

This is a pretty bleak round in my opinion. The few truly safe options (Eddie Rosario, Jose Abreu, Josh Hader, J.T. Realmuto, either lack upside or play positions that I’m not willing to target this early. For now, Giancarlo Stanton is my player to target here, as his ADP remains depressed because of his calf injury, which should heal by Opening Day. But overall, this is a round with plenty of power, so after focusing on average and speed early, I’m happy to bulk up on homers and RBI here.
