Q3. What is your general strategy tip for Round 9?

Outside of Franmil Reyes and Michael Conforto, I’m not really keen on any of the players in this round. I could see targeting one of the closers here if you want to lock up some saves. Otherwise, I actually prefer some of the players coming off the board in the next two rounds.
– Jarad Evans (@Jarad_Evans)

I’m with everyone else on not loving this grouping. Even though I like a handful of these players (Gray, Conforto, Moustakas, Santana, Diaz), I’m not jumping to get any at their ECR. Let’s hope someone else falls. This is where I at least start considering closers, but I’d like to wait at least another round on Diaz.
– Andrew Gould (@AndrewGould4)

I think making Woodruff, Wheeler, or Gray your SP3 or SP4 is a pretty good way to go here as we enter the triple-digit picks. I am still holding off on catcher and relief pitcher here, as I would much rather shore up my pitching staff or get another high upside hitter like Franmil Reyes here.
– Jon Anderson (@JonPGH)

Round 9 is where I start to deviate the most, and it’s because I can easily split this group into those I want and those I’d rather avoid. It follows the same strategy I used in Round 7, where I exclusively want someone to fall to me or I’ll bypass the entire group and target anyone I like in the following tier. The good news is that we are entering the territory of low risk and high reward. Treat each player here as a yes or no option; they can either over-deliver dramatically, or they simply aren’t worth your roster spot.
– Mario Mergola (@MarioMergola)

This round is made up of players whom I fully agree with (Moustakas, Conforto), or players that I am underwhelmed by (Hendriks, Wheeler). I’m definitely looking at taking my SP3 in this round. If you’ve focused on upside so far and have three SPs, it makes sense to use a pick on a veteran with a stable hitting profile like Moustakas, Conforto, or Santana. If you like your floor, take Reyes.
– Carmen Maiorano (@carmsclubhouse)

There isn’t much to love in this range of ADP. Rather than just settle for what falls, you’d be better off going and getting a potential stud like Jesus Luzardo, James Paxton or Danny Santana, even if it feels like a reach. Among the players I wouldn’t mind in this round, only Franmil Reyes, Gary Sanchez, and Mike Moustakas fit the bill.
– Bobby Sylvester (@bobbyfantasypro)

Tons of risk and not a lot of upside in this round, as fantasy owners are forced to either bet on a bounce-back season or take players who lack league-winning potential. Sonny Gray makes a great pick here, but Brandon Woodruff and his easy velocity is a pick I often find myself making. Other than those two pitchers, I don’t own a share of any player in this round.
