Each month, the wonderful Mike Tagliere posts an updated dynasty trade value chart. It’s an excellent resource for both dynasty players and commissioners, as you can use it to gauge trade balance successfully. It’s often difficult to discuss a trade when you and other members of your league see a player very differently, so Tags’ chart functions as a helpful third party.

If you’re looking to acquire a new quarterback in dynasty, here are some potential offers to consider.

Kyler Murray (ARI)

League Format: 1QB
Tags’ Trade Value: 32
Potential Offer: Aaron Jones (45) OR Le’Veon Bell (35)

Everyone wants to own Murray right now. If you drafted him in dynasty last year, you must be licking your chops as the 2020 season approaches. So how can you pry away Murray from his current owner? Overpay.

Jones finished as the RB2 last season, and while everyone knows he’s bound for touchdown regression, he’s still a valuable asset at a thin position. It looks like Matt LaFleur wants to run the ball more often next year, and Jones would be a prime beneficiary. The A.J. Dillon selection definitely caps Jones’ upside, but if the Murray owner in your league needs a running back, they could have a hard time turning Jones down.

Bell would be another strong trade option here. If the Murray owner already has a QB1 locked up, then Bell might offer them more weekly value as an RB2 or flex. Yes, Bell isn’t the player he used to be, but the Jets should feature him heavily to justify his massive contract. He’ll be a volume-driven option in 2020 that may appeal to owners in win-now mode.

League Format: 2QB/Superflex
Tags’ Trade Value: 64
Potential Offer: Chris Godwin (72) OR Mike Evans (65) 

If you thought you had to overpay in 1QB, you will definitely have to overpay in 2QB. Either one of the Buccaneers’ receivers would be a strong sell-high option here, as it’s unlikely that both Godwin and Evans post consecutive top-10 seasons at their position.

Yes, Godwin just 24 years old, but Murray is only 22. You’ll get more long-term value out of Murray, and, at a thin position in 2QB formats, you’re better off with the extra signal-caller.

While Tags’ trade chart puts Godwin below Evans, I’m still a bigger fan of the six-foot-five star receiver. He’ll turn 27 before this season, so he’s still got plenty of time left, and he’s the first receiver since Randy Moss to post six consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career.

The skinny here is that I think you should seize on the preseason hype surrounding the Tompa Bay Buccaneers while you can. They don’t have the quarterback position figured out for 2021, so both of these receivers could see their value nosedive if Brady retires.

Deshaun Watson (HOU)

League Format: 1QB
Tags’ Trade Value: 30
Potential Offer: J.K. Dobbins (31) OR Cam Akers (28)

While Kyler Murray and the Cardinals were offseason darlings, Watson and the Texans have seen their stocks fall considerably due to Bill O’Brien’s questionable trade decisions. Watson won’t have DeAndre Hopkins to work with next season; instead, he’ll get Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb — and David Johnson. Oh, and he still has Will Fuller and Kenny Stills, too.

I hope you’re picking up on what I’m putting down. Watson is getting unfairly faded heading into this season, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him outperform the still-unproven Murray despite Hopkins’ departure.

Watson is an excellent addition if you’re a win-now team looking for a quarterback, and I’d consider selling one of your shiny new toys to get him. This trade works best if the Watson owner is in rebuild mode, as both Dobbins and Akers should steadily increase in value in the years to come.

League Format: 2QB/Superflex
Tags’ Trade Value: 60
Potential Offer: Terry McLaurin (33) AND Drew Lock (28)

Again, Watson is a good buy if you’re in win-now mode. That’s weird to say about a guy who’s only 25, but the Texans will go through some roster turnover soon that may reduce his value for 2021 or 2022.

As long as the Watson owner is in rebuild mode, you should be able to land him for your rookies or sophomores. Try sending over both F1 McLaurin, who looks like Washington’s receiver of the future, and Drew Lock, Denver’s 23-year-old quarterback that just got a bevy of new offensive weapons. They’re both high-upside, low-floor guys that might appeal to a team with a thin roster.

However, Watson will be expensive. He’s too young to be sold for spare veterans, so weigh some other options if you’re only looking for a QB2.

Matthew Stafford (DET)

League Format: 1QB
Tags’ Trade Value: 17
Potential Offer: Sony Michel (18)

Stafford is my favorite veteran target for a team in win-now mode. The first overall pick in 2009, Stafford is entering his age-32 season, but he’s shown no signs of slowing down. Last year, Stafford was the QB7 in points per game through Week 8, ahead of guys like Jameis Winston and Kyler Murray. With his supporting cast returning, I expect him to post similar numbers next season.

Regardless of whether Stafford’s owner is in win-now mode or not, Sony Michel is a solid offer for the Detroit signal-caller. He’s struggled with efficiency in the pros, yet he’s all but guaranteed to see lots of touches in New England’s post-Brady offense. If the Stafford owner wants a running back with a solid floor in 2020, Michel is their guy.

League Format: 2QB/Superflex
Tags’ Trade Value: 34
Potential Offer: Ben Roethlisberger (18) AND Sony Michel (18)

While Stafford is a perfect win-now buy, he’s also got a few years left in the tank. That’s unlike Ben Roethlisberger, who should retire either this season or next. If you’re trying to rebuild for 2021 and 2022 — or you just want to keep your championship window open — Stafford is a fine target.

See if the Stafford owner in your league is trying to win now. If they are, it makes perfect sense for them to add Big Ben — the Pittsburgh signal-caller posted a career-high in passing yardage just two years ago! He won’t be around for much longer, but while he is, you can count on Mike Tomlin to keep putting the ball in his hands.

Michel works well here as a deal sweetener, as you’ll have to compensate Stafford owners for forfeiting a few years of starting quarterback play.

Jameis Winston (NO)

League Format: 1QB
Tags’ Trade Value: 12
Potential Offer: Julian Edelman (12)

Wait, what? Yeah, I know Winston isn’t starting, but he’ll get the first crack at the Saints’ starting job if Drew Brees retires. And even if he doesn’t get the job, he should be able to find a starting gig elsewhere in 2021.

If Winston stays in New Orleans, he’s got some incredible upside for 2021. Michael Thomas is the league’s best wide receiver right now, and Winston will get to work behind one of the league’s best offensive lines with one of the league’s top coaches. You want to get in on him now since he’ll be impossible to buy next season.

Should the Winston owner be in win-now mode, try to sell them a depreciating asset for the backup signal-caller. They’re unlikely to get much value out of Winston this season, so if a proven veteran like Julian Edelman fills a gap in their roster, they’ll probably be interested in making a deal.

League Format: 2QB/Superflex
Tags’ Trade Value: 24
Potential Offer: Julian Edelman (12) AND Golden Tate (11)

Winston will be a lot more expensive in 2QB leagues. Yes, he’s a backup, but he’ll also have the most upside of any backup in the league. As a result, you’ll need to cough up multiple assets to seal the deal.

If the Winston owner needs help at receiver, both Edelman and Tate are high-volume guys on the wrong side of 30. They can help the Winston owner fill holes at WR3 or flex in 2020, but you’re only getting this deal done by targeting a position of need for the other owner.

Other veterans that I would consider offering here include Alshon Jeffery (10), DeSean Jackson (6), and Damien Williams (11).
