FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Tuesday 8/4

FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Tuesday 8/4

Finally, we are back. The bubbles are populated and games are underway. Speaking for myself, I am just grateful to have the NHL back. Sure, it’s unconventional, but I won’t complain about having hockey on all day every day for a few weeks. Let’s take a look at the six-game slate today, which includes all qualifying series games.

Center

Adam Lowry (WPG): $3,200 vs CGY
There isn’t much to draw from in terms of recent trends, since the players have only played one or two meaningful games in the last five months. However, Adam Lowry appears to have shown up prepared to play in this series against Calgary. Lowry is a tough customer, someone you would expect to play a big factor in a playoff series. He recorded an assist in game one, then a goal and an assist in game two. With Scheifele and Laine likely sidelined again, Lowry will skate between the formidable pair of Jack Roslovic and Jansen Harkins. For this price, I am happy to have a guy that I know will be in the middle of everything all night.

Wing

Kevin Fiala (MIN): $6,700 @ VAN
Fiala is a rising star in the NHL. He broke out this season with 54 points in just 64 games, career highs. In a 3-0 game one win against the Canucks, Fiala recorded a goal on five shots. He will skate on the top line with Eric Staal and Jordan Greenway. He will also play on the top power-play unit. If Minnesota can get after Jacob Markstrom again, expect Fiala to be a part of it.

Oliver Bjorkstrand (CBJ): $5,800 @ TOR
Oliver Bjorkstrand has been a mainstay of this article all season. I just love the guy. One of the benefits to a five-month stoppage is that we saw the return of several players whose seasons we thought was over. Bjorkstrand is one of those players, fracturing his ankle back in February and receiving an 8-10 week recovery diagnosis.  He recorded 21 goals, 15 assists, for 36 points this season. The best part is he tacked on 162 shots as well. If not for playing only 49 games, he would have smashed his career totals. In game one against Toronto, Bjorkstrand was in the middle of everything. In what ended up a 2-0 game, Bjorkstrand did not record a point, but he had four shots on goal. He will skate again on the top group with Pierre-Luc Dubois and Alexandre Texier, as well as the top power-play unit.

Defense

Morgan Rielly (TOR): $5,200 vs CBJ
It doesn’t feel like a very smart move taking anyone against the stout organized defensive system of the Columbus Blue Jackets. However, I believe that the talent on the Maple Leafs roster will drag them back into this series. One way to break through a defensive system that pushes everything to the outside is to capitalize on the man-advantage. Morgan Rielly will be the man quarterbacking that power play.  I would expect Rielly to lead the Leafs in time on ice, so if they can find a way to break through, there is a good chance he will be involved.

Goalie

Sergei Bobrovsky (FLA): $7,600 @ NYI
Outside of the Oilers and Blackhawks, we have not seen many goals scored thus far in the playoffs. The “under” goal total has hit in over 80% of the games thus far. That should make choosing a goalie easy, right? Hopefully. The lowest over under today is five goals, in the Islanders Panthers game. Sergei Bobrovsky made headlines this summer when he signed for $10 million a year in Florida. This season did not go the way anyone had hoped for “Bobo”. He had a lackluster 3.23 GAA and a .900 save percentage. However, now he gets an opportunity to put all of that behind him. He is a two-time Vezina Trophy winner; his talent is not in question. He played well in game one, allowing two goals on 28 shots in a 2-1 loss. I expect Bobrovsky will bring his best in this series, easing the minds of those that opened their checkbooks for him back in July.
