DraftKings NFL Cash Lineup Advice: Week 2 (2020)

DraftKings NFL Cash Lineup Advice: Week 2 (2020)

It felt good to finally have the NFL back and I am just excited for Week 2. Below are the players that I am considering as my cash game core for this week’s main slate. I value consistency of volume and opportunity combined with potential upside when putting together my cash game lineup. Have a solid process, be sure to have FantasyPros notifications set up for Sunday morning, and remember to have fun!

Quarterback

Kyler Murray (ARI): $6,100 vs. WAS
This game should be fast-paced with lots of plays being run. That could work out well for a quarterback with wide receiver weapons and the ability to make plays with his legs. Washington pressured the Eagles a lot last week. If they stick to that game plan again this week, Murray might be forced to use his legs and could get some big plays. He had 27.3 DKFP last week in a game he was supposed to struggle in against the 49ers. He is priced a little lower than he probably should be.

Mitch Trubisky (CHI): $5,500 vs. NYG
It feels gross to recommend Trubisky since he is barely holding onto his job but his spectacular come-from-behind fourth-quarter performance bailed out fantasy owners last week. This week, he gets the Giants and their suspect defense. Trubisky is always a threat to use his legs. The Bears do not have an established run game so even if the Bears are not playing from behind, Trubisky might still be throwing. He earned 24.3 DKFP last week.

Other Notables:

Running Backs

Ezekiel Elliott (DAL): $8,200 vs. ATL
We know he is the Cowboys bell cow but we also love seeing him get four targets. Despite being just two yards shy of the 100-yard bonus, he still earned 27.7 DKFP. He is one of the few clear-cut full usage running backs right now in the NFL. This week he gets a Falcons defense that repeatedly gives up strong fantasy performances to running backs, especially those that catch passes.

Derrick Henry (TEN): $7,900 vs. JAC
Henry looks like a man among boys and he plays like it also. There is no question that the Titans want to give him the ball as much as possible. He is talented and has all the volume he can handle. He wasn’t as efficient and productive as we would have liked on Monday night with 19.1 DKFP. Amazingly, he didn’t score a touchdown, but he did rush for 116 yards on 31 carries and had three receptions. He is not a major part of the passing game but is always a threat to break a long run off of a screen pass or dump down.

Jonathan Taylor (IND): $5,700 vs. MIN
With Marlon Mack rupturing his Achilles, the rookie out of Wisconsin is now the clear-cut starter. Even though Nyheim Hines will have a role as a pass-catcher, Taylor is also a talented pass-catcher, as well. He caught all six of his targets last week for 67 yards. Overall, he earned 14.9 DKFP but you can expect him to meet and exceed value this week as the starter. He also gets a Minnesota defense that is not as good as they’ve been in the past. The bottom line is that his price is just too low for his talent and newly established role in this Frank Reich offense.

Benny Snell (PIT): $4,500 vs. DEN
If James Conner is not able to play on Sunday against the Broncos, Snell becomes a very good value option. Even if Conner is able to play, Snell might still get a workload that allows him the chance to return value at this price and in this Steelers offense. However, you don’t want to waste an RB spot in cash games. I would be out on Snell if we are unclear about Conner’s status. Snell had 19 rushes for 113 yards earning 14.3 DKFP when he replaced the injured Conners on Monday night. The 2019 fourth-round draft pick rushed for 90+ yards last year against the Bengals and Ravens last year as a rookie so he has shown potential.

Other Notables:

Wide Receivers

Davante Adams (GB): $8,100 vs. DET
We can’t expect 44.6 DKFP (14-156-2) each week but we can expect Adams to dominate the market share in Green Bay. He is far and away ARod’s main man. His 17 targets were not a huge surprise as he has averaged nearly 10 targets per game for the last four years. The secondary for the Lions is not good right now and so this is another potential smash spot for Adams.

Mike Evans (TB): $6,400 vs. CAR
The Panthers are not good defensively and Mike Evans is extremely talented. Possibly more important is the fact that Bruce Arians came out and said that his four targets were not acceptable. Last year in Week 5, Evans got only 3 targets against the Saints and then had 17 targets the next week against the Panthers. Will history repeat itself? If Godwin is out, I will be firing up Evans and watch him feast on the Panthers.

Amari Cooper (DAL): $6,300 vs. ATL
Jalen Ramsey didn’t stop Cooper last week as he turned 14 targets into 10 catches and 81 yards. Ezekiel Elliott, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb could all take targets away from Cooper, but he is a top-10 wide receiver talent that seems to have the complete trust of his quarterback and new coach. He has had at least one game each of the last three with 200+ yards, as well as games with multiple touchdowns. He has as much upside as anyone and is only the 15th highest-priced WR.

Diontae Johnson (PIT): $4,700 vs. DEN
His price came out on DK before the Monday night game where he was targeted 10 times by Big Ben. His production was not anything special as he caught six of those targets for only 57 yards and 10.7 DKFP. He is an explosive playmaker that has earned Ben’s trust and is vastly underpriced.

Other Notables:

Tight Ends

Logan Thomas (WAS): $3,600 @ ARI
Arizona’s fourth-round quarterback pick from 2014 is now facing his original team as a tight end. I am not sure that is enough narrative street to start him, but I like him, nonetheless. The real reason I like him is that he’s athletic, cheap, has a great matchup, and one of the only viable options for Washington. He saw 8 targets last week for a game of 4-37-1 and 13.7 DKFP. Tight end is so volatile and uncertain from week to week so getting double-digit points is nice in cash. Arizona gave up the most fantasy points to tight end EVER last year.

Chris Herndon (NYJ): $3,400 vs. SF
Le’Veon Bell is out and Jamison Crowder is questionable. I liked Herndon as a punt play last week with both of those guys playing and I like him again. He caught 6 of his 7 targets last week but only gained 37 yards and 8.7 DKFP. However, he had an unfortunate fumble that cost him a touchdown. He saw a 20% target share and that could even go higher without Bell (and possibly Crowder).

Other Notables:

Defense/Special Teams

San Francisco 49ers DST: $4,000 @ NYJ
This could get ugly with the Super Bowl champs coming off a season-opening loss to the Cardinals. They have a good defense and get a bad Jets offense with a mistake-prone quarterback.

Miami Dolphins DST: $2,100 vs. BUF
The Dolphins are improved as a unit and Brian Flores has them playing hard. They still aren’t all that good, but they should be able to return value against a mistake-prone Josh Allen. A bad Jets team forced him into two turnovers last week.

Other Notables:

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers DST: $2,900 vs. CAR
  • Dallas Cowboys DST: $2,700 vs. ATL
  • Indianapolis Colts DST: $2,500 vs. MIN
