With Week 2 coming to an exciting conclusion with the Saints loss to the Raiders on Monday Night Football, fantasy football managers have quickly set their sights on improving their rosters ahead of Week 3. With waivers set to run tonight in most leagues, we will jump right into some of the top waiver wire adds for those of you are lucky enough to play in IDP leagues. You truly don’t know what you are missing until you try it. Let’s dig in.

Linebackers

Micah Kiser (LB – LAR): 5% rostered on Yahoo!
Michah Kiser is locked into an every snap role for the Los Angeles Rams and has been putting up the types of numbers that made Corey Littleton an LB1 in a similar role. Kiser amassed 11 solo tackles, five assists, one pass defended, and one forced fumble in Week 2, and needs to be on fantasy rosters in leagues that start one or more LB’s, or three or more IDP flexes. He should be an extremely active tackler against the Bills, making him an instant plug and play option. 

Kevin Pierre-Louis (LB – WAS): 0% rostered on Yahoo!
Kevin Pierre-Louis is another potentially unfamiliar name that appears to be locked into a near everydown role. He posted 10 solos tackles, five assists, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble in Week 2, and will look to continue his success against the Cleveland Browns. Pierre-Louis is more of an LB3 option at this point but still deserves to be rostered. KPL could have a monster game against what is sure to a ground-oriented attack by the Browns.

Damien Wilson (LB – KC): 1% rostered on Yahoo!
With Willie Gay yet to see a defensive snap for the Kansas City Chiefs it is time to get serious about the Chiefs other linebackers. Anthony Hitchens is already on rosters of anyone who would need to read a waiver wire article, so the decision comes down to Damien Wilson and Brad Niemann. Wilson is currently getting more snaps and appears to have made a push for a larger role with his Week 2 performance. He racked up seven solo tackles, five assists, and 1.5 tackles for loss on 76 percent of the snaps. If you are in a deeper league and are in need of an LB3/4 type or a depth option, Wilson could be a low-cost addition who could help hold the line during the byes. 

De’Vondre Campbell (LB – ARI): 8% rostered on Yahoo!
If De’Vondre Campbell keeps playing like this, Isaiah Simmons is going to continue to be glued to the Cardinals bench, at least until they decide that he has the skill set to play more than just inside linebacker. Campbell, arguably the Cardinals best coverage linebacker, racked up eight solo tackles, two assists, two tackles for loss, and two passes defended in Week 2. His 98 percent of the snaps led the linebacker group, even surpassing expected everydown player Jordan Hicks. Get him on your roster and let the rest sort itself out later. 

Eric Kendricks (LB – MIN): 20% rostered on Yahoo!
I am stunned that Eric Kendricks even qualifies for this column. Viewed by some as the top middle linebacker in the entire NFL, Kendricks needs to be universally rostered. 20 percent is a solid roster number wise, but when we put it in context, we see that Kendricks is not even among the top-25 most rostered linebackers on Yahoo. Kendricks was excellent in Week 2, racking up 11 solos, one assist, and one tackle for loss. Make sure he is not on your league’s waiver wire. Kendricks has LB1 overall potential vs. the Titans in Week 3 and will be on INT watch vs. Jonnu Smith.

T.J. Edwards (LB – PHI): 0% rostered on Yahoo!
Sophomore T.J. Edwards made an impact on limited Week 2 snaps and could be in for an expanded role on a decrepit Eagles defensive unit. Edwards totaled five solo tackles, one assist, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble on just 42 percent of the snaps, and could be a solid depth add for those in deeper leagues. Available in most redraft leagues, Edwards has the talent and potential opportunity to become a consistent contributor for the Eagles. 

Defensive backs

Jordan Whitehead (S – TB): 3% rostered on Yahoo!
Jordan Whitehead had a big game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2 and deserves to be rostered in more leagues. He piled up four solo tackles, one assist, one interception, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one pass defended against Carolina, and could have another strong game against the Lions in Week 3. Whitehead may be more of a DB2/3 than a pure DB2, but he can certainly be deployed as an S2 in deeper leagues. He is a strong depth and bye week option, who could morph into a consistent contributor. Add him where needed.

Chris Banjo (S – ARI): 0% rostered on Yahoo!
Chris Banjo is more of a deep league special but has a large enough weekly role that he needs to be rostered. Banjo racked up six solo tackles, three assists, 0.5 tackles for loss, and one pass defended on 95 percent snaps in Week 2 and should have a strong game in a great matchup against the Denver Broncos in Week 3. His role in this particular defense gives him DB2 upside, so expect him to become a fixture in this column until his rostered numbers rise. 

L’Jarius Sneed (CB – KC): 1% rostered on Yahoo!
From fourth-round rookie to everydown player, to Defense Rookie of the Year watch. L’Jarius Sneed’s ascension in just two weeks has been a sight to behold. With an interception in each of his first two games, Sneed has become one of the hottest rookie assets on the IDP side of leagues. He put up five solo tackles, one interception, and one pass defended in Week 2, and while we cannot expect an interception every week, the five solos an indicative of his upside and should keep him on the CB1 periphery. If you play in a CB or INT heavy league, add Sneed, now.

Josh Jones (S – JAX): 1% rostered on Yahoo!
Josh Jones is emerging as the safety to roster from the Jaguars. He had seven total tackles in Week 2, with three solos, and four assists. He is a solid deep league addition who could become a valuable contributor to your squad if your team suffers an injury or a loss of role. Available in 99 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Jones should be added where roster space permits.  

Jeremy Chinn (S/LB – CAR): 5% rostered on Yahoo!
Jeremy Chinn continues to impress. He was much quieter in Week 2 than he was in Week 1 but still had a solid two solo tackles and three assists against Tampa Bay. The outing was a bit of a disappointment, but at least it should help to keep his price down. Chinn has a chance to emerge as a consistent DB1 option this season, so don’t let the down performance in a plus matchup sour you on his upside for the Panthers. With more projected snaps in the box, he should bounce back in Week 3, and is a plug and play DB2 with DB1 upside. He is likely still available in most redraft leagues. 

Kenny Vaccaro (S – TEN): 2% rostered on Yahoo!
It is surprising that Tennessee Titans safety Kenny Vacarro is only rostered in two percent of Yahoo! leagues. Vaccaro racked up an impressive 10 solo tackles, one assist, one sack, one tackle for loss, two passes defended, and one QB hit in Week 2 and could have another massive game in store in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings. Vaccaro being available in 98 percent of leagues makes me wonder just how deep the average IDP league is on Yahoo! because these numbers make little sense. Kevin Byard is the bigger name on the Titans, but Vaccaro needs to be rostered as well.

Nasir Adderley (S – LAC): 3% rostered on Yahoo!
So, one week after being a recommended sit due to playing less than 50 percent of the snaps behind Desmond King, Nasir Adderley sees 99 percent of the snaps, against the defending champions no less. He racked up three solo tackles, and one assist, a disappointing line if we knew he was going to start, but one that gives reason for optimism going forward. If he can continue to see over 80 percent of the snaps, it will only be a matter of time before the talented sophomore becomes an impact DB2. Add Nasir where possible. 

Defensive Linemen

Sheldon Richardson (DT – CLE): 4% rostered on Yahoo!
Sheldon Richardson was causing havoc against the Browns on Thursday Night Football. Richardson should be rostered in deeper DT leagues, and projects as an upside DT2 going forward. He was constantly in the Bengals backfield in Week 2, totaling four solo tackles, two assists, one sack, two tackles for loss, and one QB hit. He should be added where needed. 

Quinnen Williams (DT – NYJ): 0% rostered on Yahoo!
After recording just 2.5 sacks in his entire rookie season, Quinnen Williams exploded against the San Francisco 49ers for two sacks, four solo tackles, three assists, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one QB hit. He may have a tough time repeating this type of performance against the Colts offensive line in Week 3, but remains a must-add in DT leagues or leagues with three or more DL spots. 

Ndamukong Suh (DT – TB): 2% rostered on Yahoo!
Suh continues to be a force in the middle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is a part of the reason that the Bucs defensive line and defensive front overall are so feared around the league. Suh had a throwback performance in Week 2 with four solo tackles, one assist, two sacks, two tackles for loss, and two QB hits against the Panthers. He should be able to tee off against Jeff Driskel in Week 3, making him a solid DT1 or DL2/3 option in redraft leagues. Add Suh where needed.

Everson Griffen (DE – DAL): 9% rostered on Yahoo!
Everson Griffen played 75 percent of the snaps in Week 2 and should be inserted in starting lineups going forward. He racked up a solid two solo tackles, three assists, one sack, two tackles for loss, and one QB hit against Atlanta, and could have another big game against the Seahawks in Week 3. I am quite surprised that Griffen is still available in so many leagues, but perhaps his nine percent rostered numbers have more to do with his late addition to the roster, and his disappointing Week 1, than oversight from IDP managers. If you play in a deeper league, make sure you check your wire to see if Griffen is somehow available.

Yannick Ngakoue (DE – MIN): 13% rostered on Yahoo!
Yannick Ngakoue played 74 percent of the snaps in Week 2, making him a weekly must-start going forward regardless of matchup. While he is expected to explode when Danielle Hunter returns, he still had a strong Week 2 IDP line with two solos, one assist, one sack, one tackle for loss, two QB hits, and one forced fumble. He gets the Titans in Week 3 and has DE1/DL1 upside due to his projected activity against both the run and the pass.

K’Lavon Chaisson (DE/LB – JAX): 1% rostered on Yahoo!
I have no clue what to make of the Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staff. Josh Allen saw a snap boost in Week 2, but Chaisson actually saw his snaps scaled back. Despite being in for just 29 percent of the defensive plays, Chaisson was able to rack up his first career sack, racking up one solo, one assist, one sack, one tackle for loss, and one QB hit. Add Chaisson where possible and hope that the Jaguars get out of their own way sooner rather than later.
