FanDuel NFL GPP Lineup Advice: Week 5 (2020)

FanDuel NFL GPP Lineup Advice: Week 5 (2020)

We roll into Week 5 with two games bumped off Sunday’s main slate on FanDuel with the Bills/Titans and Broncos/Patriots getting postponed. That only leaves us 10 games on the docket to find the right stacks to score a big win in a GPP. The chalk stacks seem to come in every week this season, so if you want to fire up a Giants/Cowboys game stack, I don’t blame you. However, I’ll try to offer a couple of pivots for this week just in case the chalk fails (gasp!). Also, a friendly reminder to look for an additional stack available in the Low-Rostered Flies section.

So with that, let’s stack’em up for Week 5.

Stacking Options

Teddy Bridgewater (QB – CAR): $7,100 / D.J. Moore (WR – CAR): $6,600
While a Panthers stack might not be unpopular, it probably won’t be the first stack that DFS players use, either. Everyone has seen the Falcons secondary get shredded this season, including on primetime last Monday night. The Falcons have allowed 354 passing yards (31st) and 3.3 touchdown passes (32nd) per game this season and have a bunch of injuries in their secondary. We can get a little bit different from the field in a Panthers stack by pairing Teddy Bridgewater with D.J. Moore instead of Robbie Anderson. Moore was a chalky disappointment last week, and this week, he comes with a higher price tag that should depress his rostership compared to Anderson or Mike Davis. Keep an eye on the Falcons injury report to see which wide receivers are healthy enough to play, but my money is still on Calvin Ridley as long as he suits up.

Bring it back with: Calvin Ridley (WR – ATL): $8,300

Patrick Mahomes (QB – KC): $9,000 / Travis Kelce (TE – KC): $7,800
This will be just the second time this season that Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have been on the Sunday main slate, so I’m itching to use them in a GPP stack. This week offers a great opportunity for the Chiefs’ passing game, which shouldn’t have crazy high rostership with a variety of more chalky stacks in play. While the Raiders’ raw numbers against the pass have been solid this season, they currently rank 30th against the pass according to the FootballOutsiders’ Defense-adjusted Value Over Average (DVOA) metric. You should pair Mahomes with Travis Kelce, as he has the best individual matchup of the Chiefs pass-catchers. He has also averaged over seven receptions for 107 yards in the last four meetings with the Raiders to go along with three scores. You can get a little bit contrarian by bringing it back with Raiders tight end Darren Waller to form a two-tight end roster build.

Bring it back with: Darren Waller (TE – LV): $6,800

James Conner (RB – PIT): $7,000 / Steelers (D/ST – PIT): $4,400
This running back and defense stack is almost more about the defense than it is about the running back. The Steelers’ defense is in a great spot to break the slate with two weeks of rest as they welcome the sackable Carson Wentz and turnover-prone Eagles to Pittsburgh. The Eagles have allowed 3.5 sacks (29th) and 2.3 turnovers (32nd) per game this season, while the Steelers lead the league with 5.0 sacks per game. The exploits of the Steelers defense will open up a favorable game script for James Conner to potentially find the end zone multiple times, one by land and one by air.

High-Priced Stud

Ezekiel Elliott (RB – DAL): $9,000
Speaking of multiple touchdown potential, this week is screaming at us to play Ezekiel Elliott with the Cowboys as large home favorites against the Giants. After three straight crazy come-from-behind efforts that forced the Cowboys to air it out, they should return to focus more on the running game in this matchup to help hide their defense in an expected positive game script. The Giants’ run defense has been a little above league average this season, but they haven’t faced a back at Elliott’s level yet. Multiple score alert for Zeke!
