FanDuel NFL GPP Lineup Advice: Week 6 (2020)

FanDuel NFL GPP Lineup Advice: Week 6 (2020)

Week 6 is bringing another COVID scare to the NFL with both the Falcons and Colts reporting cases. As of Friday morning, both teams are still expected to play. Unfortunately, or maybe, fortunately, the Falcons and Colts are two of the teams on my stack recommendations list for this Sunday. If they play, then fire up the stacks at potentially lower rostership than they would have had if their teams didn’t have COVID concerns. If they don’t play, then look for other stacking options within the article to pivot to, including a way off-the-radar stack in the low-rostered fliers section.

So, with that let’s stack’em up for Week 6.

Stacking Options

Matthew Stafford (QB – DET): $7,300 / Kenny Golladay (WR – DET): $7,200
Coming off a legit, scheduled bye week, Matthew Stafford and the Lions will face the Jaguars, who rank dead last in Defense-adjusted Value Over Average (DVOA) according to Football Outsiders. They have surrendered 284 passing yards (28th) and 2.2 touchdown passes (25th) per game while giving up chunk plays for 8.83 yards per attempt (32nd). The Lions have the second-highest implied Vegas total on the slate, and as a small road favorite, they could be in a back-and-forth shootout. You should pair Stafford with Kenny Golladay, who has seen seven and eight targets, respectively, in his first two games this season. He totaled four red-zone looks in those two outings. He’ll face a banged-up Jaguars secondary who was shredded by the Texans receivers last week. Bring it back on the Jaguars side with Laviska Shenault, who has seen at least six targets and five catches in three straight weeks and will be the number one option in the passing game with D.J. Chark looking unlikely to play.

Bring it back with: Laviska Shenault (WR – JAC): $5,800

Matt Ryan (QB – ATL): $7,400 / Calvin Ridley (WR – ATL): $8,600
The Falcons have reported some COVID cases, so their matchup with the Vikings could be in doubt for Sunday. If the game does go on, then be sure to consider it for a game stack. I prefer the Falcons side in the passing game with Matt Ryan slinging the rock against the Vikings pass defense that has allowed 283 passing yards (27th) and 2.0 touchdown passes (21st) per game while yielding 8.28 yards per attempt (29th). The game has shootout potential, and the Falcons will be looking to prove something after an 0-5 start which saw their coach get fired. Watch the Falcons injury report at wide receiver to see if Julio Jones plays — if he does, I don’t mind taking a shot on him in a GPP over Calvin Ridley, but if Jones is out, then lock in Ridley. Bring it back with Adam Thielen to help stay away from Alexander Mattison, who will likely be the chalk at running back and isn’t in as good of a spot as you might think.

Bring it back with: Adam Thielen (WR – MIN): $7,400

Jonathan Taylor (RB – IND): $7,300 / Colts (DST – IND): $5,000
Another team that just announced some COVID positive cases, the Colts, is the stack I recommend for the RB/DST combo. That’s assuming, of course, that the game gets played on Sunday. The Colts are a touchdown favorite at home against the Bengals, who have surrendered 131 rushing yards (30th) per game on 5.26 YPC (30th) to running back this season. Jonathan Taylor’s touch share in the Colts backfield has been lower than many expected or want (#FreeJT) since Marlon Mack’s injury. However, he has scored in three of his last four games and has the potential for a bell-cow workload and performance with the Colts on bye next week to rest up. The Colts’ defense will go under-rostered due to their high price tag, but they face Joe Burrow and the Bengals’ offensive line, which has allowed 4.4 sacks (32nd) per game this season. If the Colts game gets postponed then, consider pivoting to a Myles Gaskin/Dolphins DST stack.

High-Priced Stud

Davante Adams (WR – GB): $9,000
My high-priced stud to pay up for this week will likely be less popular than other high-priced options. DFS players haven’t seen Davante Adams play since Week 2, which was a dud performance, and his $9,000 salary is tied for the highest at any position. Adams is expected to get shadow covered by Carlton Davis, which is a beatable matchup for Adams. Meanwhile, you know that Aaron Rodgers is ready to force-feed his top wideout the ball after missing numerous games in an important matchup against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. With only two games on the late afternoon time slot this week, Adams could be a big hammer for your DFS teams to skyrocket up the leaderboard. Also, if the Falcons/Vikings game gets postponed, then I like a Rodgers/Adams stack to replace it.
