So far (knock on wood) this has been a great streaming season for me and Week 6 was no different. Ryan Fitzmagic was solid, scoring over 20 points in PPR. My alternate streamer, Kirk Cousins, was awful in real life but was a great choice in fantasy. He had over 30 points. Both were QB1’s. My dark horse, Andy Dalton, was horrible, however. I guess he’s the same Andy Dalton of old and seems to crumble when the game is in prime time.
My tight end choices last week were done with a sigh because the tight end landscape is so barren. My top recommendation, Jimmy Graham, was decent but not dominant. Cameron Brate, my alternate disappeared but Irv Smith Jr., my dark horse was actually a TE1 despite scoring less than 12 points. Needless to say, the tight end position is as dire as ever.
So we now enter Week 7, still with hope as we roll the dice…

Quarterback Streamer of the Week
Teddy Bridgewater (CAR) at New Orleans Saints
This is somewhat limited with Cousins and Rivers all playing well but all with byes. Out of the possible quarterbacks who are less than 50% rostered, not many have favorable matchups. Jimmy Garoppolo faces the Patriots. Derek Carr is against the red hot Buccaneers defense. Then we have questionable quarterbacks due to injuries. Sam Darnold might be ready to start but he is against Buffalo and he is on the hapless Jets. Baker Mayfield isn’t 100% and has not played well despite the Browns having more victories than losses. He does have a favorable matchup against the Bengals, however. There’s also Daniel Jones who has a decent matchup against the Eagles but he’s not been good all year so expecting him to start playing well might be hopeful and naive. Free-agent Antonio Brown does not want to play with Nick Foles which says a lot. The Chicago Bears might be the worst 5-1 team ever. And I don’t know if I’ll ever be ready to trust Washington’s Kyle Allen ever. It truly is a week of quarterback streaming stress. And not in a good way.
So this leaves us with very little. Thank goodness Teddy Bridgewater is not on a bye. He is coming off a tough week but is ready to rebound against a middling defense in New Orleans. Let’s face it – he has been much better this season than originally predicted with last week being his only bad outing. Carolina has a young, dynamic offense, even without CMC.
Alternate Streamer of the Week
Andy Dalton (DAL) at Washington Football Team
I know, I know… Andy Dalton is coming off a week he’d rather forget. He’s not Dak Prescott nor is he the future of the Dallas Cowboys. However, he is going to be an adequate replacement for the rest of the season. Remember he’s playing for his future. Dalton is literally playing for his future. And as bad as the Cowboys 2-4 record is, they are atop the NFC East division. He’s also not playing in a prime time television spot which helps. He should be good to go with a receiving corps that is arguably the best in the league. Expect a rebounding Dalton this week.
Quarterback Pickup Alert
Tua Tagovailoa (MIA)
Unless you are streaming quarterbacks because you are all about the weekly thrill ride, pick up Tagovailoa now. I was surprised to see the end of Fitzmagic. He had been playing well and I didn’t see the need to rush Tagovailoa since he was coming off a catastrophic injury from college. But I guess Brian Flores feels like Miami has a legitimate chance of making the playoffs now and wants to see the future now. Tua is a special talent and is worth picking up because he can be “that good.” He is not playing this week because Miami has a bye but get him now or he’ll be gone.
Tight End Streamer of the Week
Dallas Goedert (PHI) vs New York Giants
As I write this, there is no guarantee that Dallas Goedert will even take the field but he is eligible to return and is only 43% rostered. If he is playing he is the tight end to stream without a doubt. He is worth picking up anyway and stashing. Zach Ertz seems to be a shadow of his former self on a team with limited passing options. Goedert is the future of Philadelphia so get him now.
Contingency Plan
Anthony Firkser (TEN) vs Pittsburgh Steelers
I can’t say that this week is any better for tight ends. It really never is. Our go-to when all else failed was Jimmy Graham and how he is rostered in nearly 60% of leagues. Trey Burton and Irv Smith Jr. are on bye. To me, Dallas Goedert is far and away the obvious choice if he plays. If he sits out another week then we need a contingency plan. Normally I am not one to choose someone who has only had one decent game and is considered the “hot hand”. However, there is not much else out there to speak of so you might as well go with a person who could be busy. Anthony Firkser had nine targets, eight receptions for 114 yards, and a touchdown when Jonnu Smith fell to injury. Smith is seemingly out again. The way the Titan’s offense is rolling with Derek Henry and Ryan Tannethrill might as well take the chance on Firkser. He faces a tough Pittsburgh defense but Tennessee seems to be matchup proof. They have the best offense is football which includes the Kansas City Chiefs; they are exciting to watch; and Ryan Tannehill utilizes his tight end. Don’t expect the same performance but with Smith out assume that Firkser will finish well above the mean.
Alternate Streamer of the Week
Darren Fells (HOU) vs Green Bay Packers
This is almost the same approach as Anthony Firkser. Fells has regained his 2019 peak form. The Packers have a real inconsistent defense – it has either been dominant or dominated. This is also predicated that Jordan Akins does not play again. If Akins is out, put Fells in. If Akins does suit up then pivot to one of our streaming favorites in 2020, Logan Thomas. He is coming off of his best game (which isn’t saying too much since he only had 42 yards). That being said, he is averaging over 80 snaps per game so maybe his on the field presence is finally going to pay off in fantasy points. No tight end streamer is ever a safe bet so you might as choose the player who is on the field for almost every play.
