What is Travis Fulgham’s Outlook in Philly? (2020 Fantasy Football)

There are few things fantasy owners can relate to more than the collective “WHO?!” when seeing the name of a relatively unknown player that scored a touchdown. It’s particularly fun when it’s a lineman or a player that your fantasy app doesn’t even have available.

Travis Fulgham was that guy in Week 5.

The Eagles receiving corps is absolutely decimated, with Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, Dallas Goedert, and Jalen Reagor all sidelined with injury, the first two of which probably shouldn’t surprise anyone. Fulgham stepped in extremely effectively against the Steelers, posting ten receptions for 152 yards on 13 targets, plus he added a touchdown. Fulgham led the Eagles in receptions, yards, and targets by a large margin. Greg Ward was second in receptions and targets with four and five, respectively, and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside was second in yardage with 37.

Fulgham was clearly “the guy” for Carson Wentz this past week, but can we expect that to continue?

Fulgham’s 152 receiving yards is the highest by any Eagles player in a single game this season, followed by Dallas Goedert’s 101 yards in Week 1. Fulgham also led the Eagles in receiving in Week 4, which was the only other game he’s played this year.

Considering you can only glean so much from two weeks of work, Fulgham seems like the guy for the time being. He’s the most successful Eagles receiver on an individual game basis on the season, and he’s led the team in receiving both times he’s played. It’s hard to ask for much more.

Feel free to scoop Fulgham and utilize him as a solid bye week fill-in at FLEX or WR3 while his peers remain sidelined. Once (really, if) they start coming back from injury, Fulgham will probably fade back into the chaos that has always been the Eagles receiving corps, but you can start him with cautious optimism for now.
