DraftKings Projected Roster Percentage: Week 11 (2020)

DraftKings Projected Roster Percentage: Week 11 (2020)

It’s Week 11, and as your redraft leagues are winding down, I hope you’re in the playoff hunt. If not, it’s the perfect time to check out daily fantasy sports (DFS), which can help keep fantasy football interesting even as your redraft lineup limps to the finish line.

Each week, I’ll break down the projected player roster percentages at the top DFS sites. These figures are generated based on numbers pulled from full-slate contests, so they won’t be perfectly accurate, but they give us a good measurement of who’s popular.

Quarterback

Look for Taysom Hill to be close to chalk this week. While it’s still unclear what exactly Sean Payton has in mind for him, his low-end salary will allow users to stack at other positions, and he’s a must-start in cash leagues. That said, it’ll be smart for you to bet against him in tournaments and hope that Jameis Winston still has a role.

Behind Hill, there’s not much consensus at quarterback this week. Of the higher-end options, I like Lamar Jackson a lot this week. Baltimore’s defense is severely banged-up, and the Ravens will probably need to score lots of points to keep up with the Titans. It’s no sure thing that they’ll get the win, but they should have no problems scoring against a Tennessee defense without Adoree’ Jackson and Jadeveon Clowney.

Of the lower-priced options, Alex Smith makes a lot of sense as a contrarian play here. He’s not as cheap as Hill, but the Bengals give up the eighth-most DraftKings points per game (DKPPG) to quarterbacks (22.1), and Smith just threw for 390 yards last weekend.

Running Back, Wide Receiver, and Tight End

Like at quarterback, there’s surprisingly little consensus at the other key positions this week, as only one running back and one wide receiver come in with over 20% projected rostership. Dalvin Cook is a fantastic running back to target, as the Vikings should feature him as they dismantle the Dallas Cowboys. The Vikings are currently seven-point favorites, and they attempt the ninth-most rushing plays per game (29.7).

At receiver, only Jakobi Meyers comes in above 20%, and that’s due to his bargain-bin salary. Meyers has led the Patriots in both targets and receiving yards over the last two weeks, and he was the lone Patriots wide receiver to catch a pass against the Ravens. He sees enough volume to deserve a higher price, and he makes a smart addition to any lineup.

The most popular tight ends this week appear to be Mark Andrews and T.J. Hockenson. While Andrews is having a disappointing season, he still has two-touchdown upside, and the Titans give up the 13th-most DKPPG to tight ends. That’s not a smash spot, but it’s not bad, either. Hockenson draws the 10th-worst Panthers here, and he’s not a bad play due to the injury-riddle Detroit receiving corps.

Of the running backs and wide receivers in the 10-20% range, Jakeem Grant jumps out to me as a fantastic value. He looked great against the Chargers last week, and the Dolphins just don’t have enough receiving weapons now that Myles Gaskin, Isaiah Ford, and Preston Williams are all on injured reserve or other teams.

I also like Keenan Allen and Denzel Mims here. Allen leads the league in targets per game (10.3), and that kind of volume is essential to being a high-end receiver in DraftKings’ PPR scoring. While Mims is more of a boom-or-bust option, he showed good chemistry with Joe Flacco, and the duo could combine for a big play downfield.

Defense

We have three favored defenses this week, and all of them are the betting favorites. The Steelers are projected to tee off against the Jaguars, as they’re currently 10.5-point favorites, but I’m not so sure that they’re worth their salary here. Pittsburgh is notorious for playing down against bad opponents, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jacksonville at least keep things close.

The Browns and Dolphins present better value. Carson Wentz has struggled with accuracy this season, and the Browns could add to their seven interceptions on the year. Likewise, Drew Lock (who should get the starting nod this week) hasn’t impressed, while Miami’s defense and special teams have looked great of late. They’ve scored off fumbles and punt returns, and they’ll look to keep the momentum rolling against the mediocre Denver Broncos.
