Quarterback & Tight End Streamers: Week 10 (2020 Fantasy Football)

Quarterback & Tight End Streamers: Week 10 (2020 Fantasy Football)

I will chalk up Week 9 as a streaming win. My top two quarterback recommendations were QB1’s. Drew Lock was QB5 and got almost 35 points in PPR. Kirk Cousins only had 13 completions but threw three touchdowns which were enough to get him 25 points and finish as the twelfth best quarterback for the week.

My tight end recommendation, Eric Ebron, was not as dominant as I hoped he would be. In fact, the Steelers/Cowboys game ended up being a symbol for the entire season. It did not make sense but in the end, it worked itself out. Ebron, himself, ended up with only 22 yards but scored a touchdown. This was enough to be 10th highest scoring tight end of the week, barely eclipsing 11 points. That just tells you how dire the tight end position is, not just for weekly streaming but how depressing it is in general.

It’s all about celebrating when we can find those small diamonds in the enormous rough. We were successful in Week 9 so let’s keep it going now. I feel there’s still enough viable options out there even if we are in the second half of the season, which normally spells doom.

Quarterback Streamer of the Week

Drew Lock (DEN) vs. Las Vegas Raiders
I do like many quarterbacks this week but my favorite is a repeat of last week. I guess I’m going with an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach. Ever since Lock overcame a deficit to beat the Chargers, he’s been on my radar. I loved his matchup last week against Atlanta and that surely paid off. He had a 2019 Josh Allen performance last week. He only completed 52.1% of his attempts, but still threw two touchdowns and was a rushing revelation. He had 47 yards on the ground and scored a touchdown. He is finding ways to try to win and score fantasy points. It was also an important week that saw both of his rookie wide receivers breakout. Jerry Jeudy exploded for seven receptions, 125 yards, and a touchdown. K.J. Hamler had a season-high six receptions.

The Denver Broncos might not be a playoff team but they have been damn exciting to watch. Now the Raiders aren’t the Falcons when it comes to handing fantasy goodness to opposing quarterbacks. However, Las Vegas is the 10th most generous. This is a division matchup. The Raiders might be 5-3 while the Broncos are 3-5 but this is a closer rivalry and I expect this to be a tight affair that could explode in scoring. Lock is still no lock to be invincible but knowing he’s gained confidence as a quarterback coupled with a young, exciting army of receivers gives me enough optimism to go with him this week.

Alternate Streamer of the Week

Teddy Bridgewater (CAR) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Steady Teddy. That’s what Teddy Bridgewater has been this entire season. He’s playing a Buccaneers team that is coming off of a horrific performance against the New Orleans Saints. Drew Brees was able to dominate without having to rely on the deep pass. His short to intermediary passes was enough to poke holes through the Tampa defense. Bridgewater was similar against the Chief’s defense last week. He had a 73% completion rate but only had 6.3 Yards Per Attempt. Most of the time, we criticize quarterbacks for being these kinds of conservative game managers but sometimes this approach can be more successful than just simply chucking down the field.

Bridgewater might not be known as a running quarterback but he has rushed for the ninth most yards among quarterbacks, which include the obvious likes of Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson, Cam Newton, and Russell Wilson. He scored on the ground last week and could do it again. Even if he doesn’t, he seems to have an aversion to turning into a pumpkin. If the Buc’s defense is good again, expect Steady Teddy because of his consistent floor. If the Buc’s defense continues to slip then expect him to hit a potentially high ceiling as a bonus.

Dark Horse QB

Tua Tagovailoa (MIA) vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Tua Tagovailoa started a few weeks ago, which was strange considering Ryan Fitzmagic was more than adequate. Then rumors leaked last week that the Miami Dolphins were actually playing him to see what they had because they have the potential draft capital to land either Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields. Both the move to start him despite his recent college injury and the reason for potentially starting him seemed equally strange. However, it did light a fire under him and last week he helped Miami win again. More importantly, Tua also played much better. Most of us think he’s the real deal and was actually the best quarterback of his class sans injury.

The Dolphins are seriously looking like a playoff team and are willing to test Tua as they continue to head towards the postseason. His first game as a starter was not all that impressive but last week against Arizona, he had a solid 71% complete rate, almost 250 yards passing, and threw two touchdowns without committing a turnover. Kyler Murray beat hall-of-famer Russell Wilson in only his second season, three weeks ago. Tua then beat Kyler last week in only his second game. This week he plays the Chargers who have been sixth most generous against quarterbacks in terms of fantasy points allowed. This will be the battle of the rookies as Tua takes on Justin Herbert. This will be a fairly high scoring affair with two of the most exciting quarterbacks in the league.

Tight End Streamer of the Week

Jimmy Graham (CHI) vs. Minnesota Vikings
I’m just going to make this short and sweet. Jimmy Graham is currently the sixth-best tight end this season. Apart from Week 2, he’s not had less than five targets. He’s tied for second for most touchdowns among tight ends with five. Since coming off a bye, the Vikings gave up eight receptions and 125 yards to the Green Bay combination of Robert Tonyan and Jace Sternberger. Last week they allowed T.J. Hockenson to score. Graham is as close as consistent as they come in 2020 with the possibility of finding the end zone. By the way, Graham is 49% rostered, so this might be the last time to nab him as a streamer. He might be worth picking up and riding till the end of the season.

Alternate Streamer of the Week

Logan Thomas (WSH) @ Detroit Lions
This one is solely based on opportunity.  There seem to be three go-to players in Washington. Superstar wide receiver Terry McLaurin; third-down satellite back J.D. McKissic; and tight end Logan Thomas. In fact, Thomas has been targeted 46 times this season, which has him third, only one target behind McKissic. Thomas has not taken advantage of his opportunities – hence he is in the streaming conversation. However, there is a blow-up game coming. And he is playing with a more accurate quarterback now. I don’t trust Alex Smith enough yet to recommend him as a streaming option himself, but he could help elevate Thomas’ game and be the upgrade he needs to transform his 16% opportunity share into big gains.

Dark Horse TE

Austin Hooper (CLE) vs. Houston Texans
Austin Hooper was given the big contract for a reason. So far he hasn’t lived up to the hype but let us be fair – no pass-catching option in Cleveland has. If it is true that Baker Mayfield’s inconsistent bad play has been freed because of a season-ending injury to Odell Beckham Jr., then Hooper should be one of the beneficiaries. Then again, maybe Mayfield just isn’t very good. We should find out this week when the Browns play against one of the weaker defenses in the league.

If you don’t want Austin Hooper to be your weapon of choice, then there is also Jordan Reed. I’d be more on him this week but he did burn me last week so my mood is slightly more tepid. In both cases, the floor is low but the ceiling can be highest out of all the tight end streamers I recommended this week. These two are true dark horses.
