Weekend Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 10 Fantasy Football)

Weekend Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 10 Fantasy Football)

How many times have you heard someone telling you to “stream” a position? Whether it be quarterback, tight end, or defense, the idea of streaming is great, provided you get the players you want off the waiver wire. The issue with streaming week-to-week is that everyone knows who you’ll be targeting in those good matchups and you might have that player swiped from underneath you, or even worse, your opponent that week may snag a player just to ensure you don’t get them.

We started this article so you don’t have to worry about that anymore. Each Saturday morning, you’ll head over to your waiver wire and snag the players who are lined up for good matchups the following week. They may have a brutal matchup for that current week. Great, even better. That just means they’re more likely to be available for you. By snagging them a week prior, you eliminate the need to spend a lot of FAB dollars on the top tier defense that everyone is chasing. Here are the players who have solid Week 11 matchups on tap, or have breakout potential in Week 10, and are less than 40 percent rostered.

Quarterbacks

Teddy Bridgewater (CAR) vs DET in Week 11
He’s been a serviceable streamer this year, posting top-15 numbers in 5-of-9 games, including top-13 in four of his last six games. The Lions have been a team to attack with streamers, as they’ve allowed multiple touchdowns to quarterbacks in all but one game. In that one game, Matt Ryan still threw for 338 yards and a touchdown, so it wasn’t like he was a bust, either.

Kirk Cousins (MIN) vs DAL in Week 11
You can say, “Ehh, the Vikings are just going to run the ball over and over, leaving minimal production for Cousins.” They’re likely to run the ball a lot, but for all the shade thrown at the Cowboys, they’ve allowed just two 100-yard rushers against them this year. Don’t get me wrong, Dalvin Cook is still going to demolish them, but the Cowboys defense as a whole has allowed five teams to score 30-plus points against them, which has allowed 7-of-9 quarterbacks to throw for at least two touchdowns.

Decent alternative option: Alex Smith (WAS) vs CIN

Running Backs

Rex Burkhead/Sony Michel (NE) at HOU in Week 11
We don’t know what’s going on with Damien Harris, as he took a big shot to the chest in Week 9 and was knocked out of the game. He did return to practice this week but is reportedly also dealing with an ankle injury as well. The safe pickup here would be Burkhead, who has totaled at least six carries in 6-of-8 games and has also chipped in with three-plus receptions in four games. Against the Texans, a team that allows 30.8 touches and 182.1 total yards per game to running backs, he should have a decent streaming floor. Michel would be a rock-solid play if Harris is more injured than we’ve been led to believe.

Malcolm Brown (LAR) at TB in Week 11
He’s run 156 routes on the season while Darrell Henderson has run 73 of them. When you look at the matchup against the Bucs, they’ve allowed absolutely nothing on the ground (no running back has topped 59 rushing yards), so the Rams will be forced to move the ball through the air. The Bucs have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points through the air to running backs, which is the role we’ve seen Brown play. It’s hardly an exciting play but there aren’t many options on the waiver wire at running back who are under 40 percent rostered.

With bye weeks almost over, these running backs NEED to be rostered (but are available in more than 60 percent of leagues): Alexander Mattison (MIN), Boston Scott (PHI), Benny Snell (PIT)

Wide Receivers

Sammy Watkins (KC) at LV in Week 11
Many have simply forgotten about Watkins, who’ll be back in the lineup when the Chiefs come out of their bye week. In the three full games Watkins has played, he’s totaled 9, 8, and 7 targets. He was actually hurt early in the last game against the Raiders, though he did catch both of his targets for 24 yards and a touchdown before exiting.

Jakobi Meyers (NE) at HOU in Week 11
It’s extremely surprising to see him rostered in just 38 percent of leagues, but we’ll attribute that to doubt about him continuing his success while Cam Newton struggles as a passer. Despite that, Meyers has managed to put together quite the string of performances over the last three weeks, racking up 22 receptions for 287 yards on 22 targets. Despite not scoring a touchdown, he’s ranked as the No. 9 wide receiver in half-PPR formats during that time. The Texans have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per target to wide receivers.

Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) at SEA in Week 11
Start wide receivers against the Seahawks. That should be the mantra of this article. Through eight games, they’ve already allowed 19 wide receivers to finish top-36 against them, including Fitzgerald, who racked up 8/62/0 on eight targets when they played back in Week 7. There are just six wide receivers who haven’t posted double-digit PPR points against the Seahawks. Fitzgerald doesn’t offer a high ceiling, but his floor should remain intact.

Viable high-floor alternative option: Russell Gage (ATL) at NO in Week 11

Should be on more rosters right now: Jalen Reagor (PHI), Mecole Hardman (KC)

Tight Ends

Logan Thomas (WAS) vs CIN in Week 11
He’s the best streamer next week, so make sure you snag him before someone else does. The Bengals opponents have targeted their tight end on 25.1 percent of passes, which ranks as the third-highest number in football. That’s been a major factor in them allowing 17.6 PPR points per game to tight ends, which ranks as the second-highest number in football. Prior to Jonnu Smith not running routes and not seeing targets (caught 2-of-2 targets for 29 yards), the Bengals had allowed three straight top-three tight end performances to Hunter Bryant, Trey Burton, and Mark Andrews.

Dalton Schultz (DAL) at MIN in Week 11
If there’s someone’s production who hasn’t been too affected by the quarterback changes in Dallas, it’s Schultz, who’s seen 15 targets over the last two weeks, and hauling 10 of them in for 101 yards. He now goes into a matchup against the Vikings, who allow a league-high 10.54 yards per target to tight ends. They’ve allowed at least 46 yards and/or a touchdown to seven different tight ends this season.

DSTs

Los Angeles Chargers vs NYJ in Week 11
Any time you can start a defense against the Jets, you typically want to do it. The Chargers defense has gone through a lot of injuries/changes, but they’ve still managed to average a 36.0 percent pressure-rate, which ranks eighth in the NFL. They’ve not converted a whole lot of sacks, but against the Jets, who’ve allowed their quarterbacks to be sacked 26 times and be pressured 41.5 percent of the time, there should be more than a few sacks. That’s not even including the lack of scoring (14.4 points per game) and turnovers (1.3 per game) you get.

Washington Football Team vs CIN in Week 11
In case you didn’t know, the Football Team brings the pressure and have sacked opposing quarterbacks on 10.5 percent of their dropbacks, which ranks second to only the Steelers. While Joe Burrow has been a good quarterback in his rookie year, sacks have been very common, as he’s been taken down 28 times through eight games. Washington is on a roll recently and has sacked the opposing quarterback 11 times in their last two games. On top of that, they’ve allowed just 23.5 points per game to opponents, which ranks as the 11th-fewest in the NFL.
