FanDuel NFL GPP Lineup Advice: Week 14 (2020)

FanDuel NFL GPP Lineup Advice: Week 14 (2020)

The theme for the Week 14 FanDuel GPP column is redemption. It is a good week to ignore recency biases and use the very same players and teams that failed many of us last week. With a full 13-game Sunday main slate, there are a plethora of GPP stacking options to consider, which should help spread out rostership. So, stack up your favorite pairings, and don’t be afraid to fill in the gaps with some of the expected chalk.

Also, in addition to the typical stacking options, be sure to read on to find the “crazy stat of the week” and another potential stack in the “Low-Rostered Filers” section.

So, with that let’s stack’em up for Week 14.

Stacking Options

Justin Herbert (QB – LAC): $8,300 / Keenan Allen (WR – LAC): $8,500
Justin Herbert and the Chargers put up a donut last week against the Patriots. That should be enough to scare some people off of the rookie quarterback this week when they face the Falcons. The Atlanta defense has been excellent at shutting down opposing rushing attacks, and they rank sixth in Defense-adjusted Value Over Average (DVOA) according to FootballOutsiders, which typically forces teams to look to air it out against them. That should be no problem for Herbert, who has thrown at least 49 passes in each of his last three games.

Pair up Herbert with his top target, Keenan Allen, who has reached double-digit targets in six of his last seven games and has also found the end zone in five of those outings. On the Falcons bring-it-back, we have had our decision made for us. With Julio Jones ruled out, it is all Calvin Ridley, as he’s averaged over 10 targets with six grabs for close to 100 yards per game in the three games without Jones this season.

Bring it back with: Calvin Ridley (WR – ATL): $8,100

Deshaun Watson (QB – HOU): $8,000 / Brandin Cooks (WR – HOU): $6,900
Here is a situation where I think we can take advantage of some recency bias. Deshaun Watson and Brandin Cooks were chalky options last week and didn’t live up to the hype, especially Cooks. Nothing has really changed since last week, with Will Fuller suspended for the rest of the season, yet it appears that Cooks has become an afterthought this week.

You could even argue that this week’s matchup against the Bears is a better spot for Cooks and the Texans’ passing game than last week was against the Colts. The Bears have allowed a receiver to top 100 yards in three of the last four weeks and have allowed seven touchdowns to wideouts over that span. The bring-it-back option on the Bears is an easy choice with Allen Robinson. It should be another chalky week for the Bears running back David Montgomery, which should make Robinson a strong pivot with his high target volume and red zone appeal.

Bring it back with: Allen Robinson (WR – CHI): $7,000

Ezekiel Elliott (RB – DAL): $7,600 / Cowboys DST: $3,500
Outside of the Thanksgiving Day slate, I can’t remember the last time I wrote up a recommendation for a player from the Cowboys. Well, this is finally the spot, with the Cowboys as a small favorite against the Bengals. While Ezekiel Elliott’s production has been down, his volume of looks (carries plus targets) has remained high, as he’s earned at least 20 in four of his last five games. That kind of volume in a favorable matchup with a positive game script against the Bengals should translate into fantasy production. Cincinnati’s rushing defense ranks 21st DVOA and has allowed 119 rushing yards (30th) per game on 5.0 YPC (30th) to running backs this season.

You can even consider utilizing the inexpensive Cowboys defense this week against the Bengals, as they’ve allowed 4.0 sacks (30th) and 2.3 turnovers (30th) per game over the last five weeks. If for some reason Elliott sits out with his current questionable tag, then Tony Pollard ($4,800) becomes a must-play in all lineups.

High-Priced Stud

Aaron Jones (RB – GB): $8,700
I might as well change the name of this section to “which Packers stud do I use this week,” since it seems like it has been occupied by either Davante Adams or Aaron Jones most of the time. Well, this week it’s Jones’ turn in an easy matchup against the Lions. They rank 28th DVOA against the run and have allowed 113 rushing yards (29th) and 1.3 touchdowns (32nd) per game to running backs this season on 4.6 YPC (25th). Jones torched the Lions for 236 total yards and three scores in their earlier meeting this season.

I’d even venture to suggest considering a double stack of Packers running backs by using Jamaal Williams along with Jones in a GPP lineup or two. Crazy stat of the week: the Lions have allowed touchdowns to multiple backs from the same team five times in their last six games.
