Fantasy Football QB1 Targets: Week 14 (2020)

Fantasy Football QB1 Targets: Week 14 (2020)

There is almost always a decent crop of quarterbacks available on any given week, whether that be the spare signal-caller on your bench or a host of them on the waiver wire. In today’s NFL, most quarterbacks will probably be at least “fine” from a fantasy perspective, but quarterbacks have massive scoring potential, and, as such, they should get as much attention as the rest of your roster.

There are a few options that must be belocked into your lineup basically regardless of their matchup. I am considering those to be Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, and Kyler Murray. There are a couple of other guys angling to be in that tier, but for purposes of this piece, you won’t see any of the above moving forward. If you have them, play them.

Let’s take a look at a few typically-solid options with overall QB1 upside, some mid-range QBs that aren’t automatic starters but might be hanging out on your bench, and a bunch of decent streaming options for Week 14.

Rostered Options with Massive Upside

Aaron Rodgers (GB)
Rodgers is the QB5 on the season, and he’s scored at least 21.7 points in seven (!) straight games. The Lions are 23rd in the league against quarterbacks, and they have allowed less than 16 fantasy points only once this season, and that was to P.J. Walker. Rodgers is in for a massive week.

Mid-Range QBs That May be Available

Ben Roethlisberger (PIT)
The Steelers finally lost in Week 13, albeit to an unexpected opponent, and Roethlisberger may be out for blood. Their playoff seeding is now on the line, and they are facing the team right behind them in the AFC. The Bills allow the 26th-most points to opposing quarterbacks, and they’ve allowed less than 20 fantasy points only four times this season, and two of those were against the Jets. Roethlisberger is in an under-the-radar excellent spot this weekend.

Taysom Hill (NO)
I’ve seen Taysom Hill drop onto a few waiver wires this week, which was a little surprising. Drew Brees will likely be back next week, which I assume is the reason, but Hill has still been a great fantasy quarterback as a starter. He’s scored over 17 in every start, and probably most importantly, the Eagles are dead. Hill can do you some good for one more week.

Ryan Tannehill (TEN)
I mean, it’s almost not fun anymore, but we always have to follow the Jaguars. Tannehill is coming off his second-best fantasy outing of the season, and the Jaguars are just awful against opposing quarterbacks. Fire him up again.

Streamers!

Teddy Bridgewater (CAR)
It looks like Teddy may be without D.J. Moore and Christian McCaffrey (again), but the rest of his weapons should be available. He’s averaged two total touchdowns per week over the last five, and the Broncos have allowed 17.5 fantasy points to opposing signal-callers in all but two games this season. Teddy is a safer option for the fantasy playoffs if you have some home run hitters elsewhere.
