The Details of the Trade

Here are the details of the trade courtesy of our NFL News Desk.

Per Adam Schefter, Carson Wentz has been traded to the Colts for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that could turn into a first.

How does the trade impact the value of Carson Wentz and other Colts’ players?

This is obviously a good thing for the pass-catchers with the Colts, as they get a quarterback who’s supported multiple fantasy options in the past and even played at an MVP level. Going from Philip Rivers (who appeared done when he was with the Chargers) to Jacob Eason was going to be tough, but knowing Wentz had his best years with Frank Reich, there’s a chance this move brings back the Wentz that people were drafting as a top-10 fantasy quarterback. Will this move convince T.Y. Hilton to stay? One thing we do know is that Michael Pittman and Parris Campbell are both getting a bump in projections.

This is good news for Wentz and his dynasty stock. While it’s a gamble on whether or not he ever returns to the MVP-level type of play we’ve seen from him previously, this is the best possible situation for that to come to fruition. Frank Reich was the OC in Philadelphia when Wentz was playing at his highest level, and the Colts obviously think they can fix him. Wentz moves back up to a low-end QB1 in my Dynasty rankings.

As for the surrounding cast, the biggest beneficiary is Michael Pittman Jr. With this potential QB upgrade, plus Pittman’s talent, the sky’s the limit for what we could see from the 2nd-year player in 2021. With T.Y. Hilton’s return a question mark, Pittman could easily see 100+ targets in 2021. Parris Campbell gets a slight bump as well, but he needs to prove he can stay healthy before I can consider moving him up significantly in my Dynasty rankings.

How does the trade impact the value of Jalen Hurts and other Eagles’ players?

For those who wanted to draft Hurts as a starter in fantasy, you’re one step closer to him being a safe option. I say one step closer because we still have the draft, and some suspect the Eagles will take a quarterback with their top-10 pick. When Hurts took over for Wentz as the starter, we did see the production dip for the tight ends, and now that we have an entirely new offensive system, there are more questions than ever about someone like Dallas Goedert. However, with Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson likely gone, there will be targets available.

– Mike Tagliere

Hurts is now the presumed starter for Philadelphia in 2021! While I do expect them to bring in competition at the position, whether via free agency or the Draft, Hurts is going to get the first crack at proving he can be the leader of this offense. He moves up to a high-end QB2 in my dynasty rankings. I need to see a full season’s worth of play from him before I can feel comfortable moving him into my top-10.

As for the receiving weapons, Jalen Reagor and Dallas Goedert are really the only options worth considering at this point. Goedert should be a safe option next season, but we’ll need to see who else the Eagles bring in as pass-catchers before we can fully determine where to rank him for 2021. As for Reagor, the questions surrounding him weren’t so much revolving around the QB, but they were focused on his individual play. Can he take a massive step forward in 2021? Until we see it happen on the field, I’m not willing to move him up much in my rankings as a result of this trade.
