FanDuel DFS NHL Strategy Advice: Thursday (2/25)

The season rolls along tonight with an eleven-game slate. I will be focusing on Montreal as they look to get back into the win column after firing Coach Claude Julien.

Center

Jack Roslovic (CBJ): $5,200 vs. CHI
Roslovic has been beyond impressive this season. The Ohio native was a throw-in to the Laine for Dubois deal, but he has since performed like a key asset. Roslovic, a skilled centerman, could not crack the star-studded top six in Winnipeg. Upon arrival in Columbus, John Tortorella gave him an immediate opportunity to center the top line between Patrik Laine and Cam Atkinson. In his 13 games in Columbus, Roslovic has 12 points. Roslovic recorded two points in a 6-5 loss to the Blackhawks on Tuesday. I expect tonight should be high scoring as well.

Wing

Pavel Zacha (NJD): $3,900 vs. BUF
Pavel Zacha is red hot. He is riding a seven-game point streak. Zacha has recorded four goals, five assists for nine points in just 14 games. Four of those points have come on the power play. Zacha is playing the left side of Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt. He is featured on a power-play unit with Kyle Palmieri, Nico Hischier, Andreas Johnsson, and Pk Subban. Tonight the Devils host a Sabres team that has surrendered 2.88 goals per game this season.

Eeli Tolvanen (NSH): $3,400 @ DET
Tolvanen was a first-round pick of the Predators in 2017. This is his first full season with the team. The 21-year-old Finn has just two goals in nine games this season. However, John Hynes recently promoted Tolvanen onto the top power-play unit. Since that promotion, the Preds have doubled their power-play efficiency. Tolvanen recorded a power-play goal against this same Red Wings squad on Tuesday. This Detroit team is penalized often, and their 70% PK is fourth-worst in the league. This is a nice spot to grab some value from one of the cheapest players available.

Defense

Tyler Myers (VAN): $4,500 vs. EDM
The Canucks are on the ropes. They have dropped nine of their last eleven games, including three straight heading into tonight. They need a big effort at home against the Oilers this evening. Expect Tyler Myers to play a lot of minutes tonight. Myers leads the Canucks in time on ice this season. With time on the ice come shots and blocks. In 23 games this season, Myers has recorded 11 points, 39 shots, and 33 blocks. He is a reliable asset in any lineup, but particularly in head to head. Myers will continue skating alongside the young Olli Juolevi as well as the second power-play unit.

Goalie

Mackenzie Blackwood (NJD): $6,900 @ BUF
I will continue going back to the well on Mackenzie Blackwood, especially when facing the Buffalo Sabres. Blackwell boasts a 2.25 GAA and sparkling .935 save percentage this season. The Sabres are near the bottom of the league with 2.44 goals per game.  Las Vegas is calling this game a “pick ’em,” with neither team favored. However, the over/under goal line is 5.5, and the under is juiced to -125, suggesting this will be a low-scoring affair. Considering this is one of the cheaper options available, I am more than happy making this play.
