MLB Daily Fantasy Primer: Friday (4/30) PREMIUM
We have another full slate of MLB DFS action on Friday night, although with the standalone game being played just before the rest of the bunch — as compared to the typical Friday afternoon matchup. The two prominent DFS sites don’t include this game in the main slate, so we won’t either.
Overall, we do have a few perceived lopsided matchups on the schedule. This leads to the all-important decision of following the chalk or trying to be contrarian. We’ll let the numbers answer for us, but keep in mind that there are some wild opportunities to go against the grain and swing for the metaphorical fences.
Friday’s Starting Pitcher Strategy
There’s simply no way around sliding Gerrit Cole in as the top pitcher of the day, despite his obviously high price tag. Naturally, in the world of sports, we have to assume that all outcomes are possible, but it simply isn’t likely that he struggles against Detroit. The Tigers feature one of the most strikeout-prone lineups, and they rank near the bottom of the league in runs scored. Again, we can’t expect Cole to throw his glove on the mound and dominate from start to finish, but the setup is there.
